Let me repeat: 60 pounds. He works maintenance at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mountainsidefitness.com\/\">Mountainside Fitness<\/a> and has free use of the facilities, but it took a rude awakening for Clint to actually take advantage: his \u201cAha\u201d moment came, when after several trips to the emergency room for joint pain, he was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis. At that moment he decided to lose enough weight to be healthy, and pledged he\u2019d never let his weight affect his health again. I ate what I wanted, when I wanted. When I\u2019d try and lose weight, it became a yo-yo diet cycle; I would lose 10 pounds and then gain 15 because I was just resuming my old eating habits.<\/p>\n<p><b>Worst thing about your old fitness regimen:<\/b> Very inconsistent. I would never stick to a routine.<br \/>\n<b><br \/>\nThe key to losing weight:<\/b> DIET DIET DIET! I don\u2019t mean going on a diet, but changing your diet for good. Not 3 weeks, not 12 weeks\u2026 forever! It helped that I got diet advice from the experts at Mountainside \u2013 little things like eating almonds as a snack instead of running to Taco Bell. One of the easiest ways that I found to cut belly fat was to eliminate gluten and sugar from my diet. This means no bread, no soda, no fruit juice, etc. Also, eliminating any artificial sweetener, as the liver cannot metabolize this and fat efficiently at the same time.<\/p>\n<p><b>Best advice to others looking to lose weight: <\/b>Don\u2019t be afraid of starting. Give it 21 days and once that habit is formed, you will wonder why you didn\u2019t do this before now. And remember, you can\u2019t out exercise a bad diet.<\/p>\n<p><b>Top 3 changes\u2026<br \/>\nFitness:<\/b> I now do 3 spin classes per week and 2 weight training sessions per week.<br \/>\n<b>Diet:<\/b> No sugar, no bread. If I cannot pronounce the ingredient on the label, it\u2019s a good bet my body doesn\u2019t know what to do with it either: don\u2019t eat it.<br \/>\n<b>Motivation:<\/b> Initially, I was motivated by some medical issues that were due to my weight. Once I hit a plateau, I incorporated a personal trainer twice a week. This was key to my success, and I probably would have given up if not for him.
