4 Reasons You Should Hire a Personal Trainer

I have never had a personal training session. I know, crazy, right? It’s something I’ve always wanted to do, but kept putting it on the backburner… until today. You see, one of my resolutions was to finally do something I’ve always wanted to do, and that’s how I found myself at Mountainside Fitness at Scottsdale Pavilions for my appointment with Chip Frazier, Core Concepts Personal Trainer at Mountainside Fitness.

For the record, if I didn’t have a scheduled appointment, I probably would have skipped my sweat session altogether. I have a long to-do list today, plus a million other things I should be doing, and I don’t have to tell you how exercise is one of the first to fall to the wayside (we’ve all done it). Yet when fitness is scheduled like a dentist appointment, we rarely bail (cross accountability off the list.)

Chip is a young, obviously fit guy, who whips people into shape for a living… and I was ready to be next. We started by going over my goals: namely to iron out some muscle imbalances and tighten up my tush. And I have to say that sharing my goals out loud made them seem more possible. Plus, research shows the simple act of setting goals can make people happier and more satisfied (cross goal setting off the list).

Next, Chip put me through the paces, guiding me through sets of BOSU planks, lunges with bicep curls, squats, cable rows, triceps pull-downs, medicine ball crunches, weighted side bends and leg raises, to name a few. In short, we hit every major muscle group – and we did it all in 30 minutes! This last part was the most shocking to me. We accomplished way more – infinitely more – than I’d ever get done on my own. Having someone in your corner to coach, correct, educate and cheer you on really does make a difference (cross motivation off the list).

I left the gym feeling extra motivated to tackle my to-do list… and a little tighter in the tummy and tush. No, you’re not going to see a difference after one session, but my muscles definitely got a workout (cross results off the list).
