You know the Holiday season is upon us when 99.9 FM starts playing Christmas music 24/7—and the carols are in full force. That means it’s time to start crossing off all your holiday shopping. Rather than the requisite bottle of booze with a bow or box of high-fructose corn syrup-filled chocolates, here’s a novel idea: give the people you love something healthy. It’ll make them feel good which will make you feel good… for lots of good feeling.
That’s why I’m starting a regular feature called “All I want for Christmas…” where I’ll tap the minds of some health-minded, in-the-know Valley fitsters for their favorite healthy, fit or eco-friendly gifts. Today, Dan Klocke, head honcho of The Phoenix Market, shares his holiday favorites from the Phoenix Public Market: (Psst: Don’t miss Phoestivus, a fun evening of holiday cheer with 110+ local vendors Dec 5 & 12 from 4-8pm – a healthy way to Holiday shop).
All I want for Christmas… by Dan Klocke of the Phoenix Public Market
Wei of Chocolate – Organic, dairy free and vegan chocolate infused with flower essence. Eco-friendly, full of goodness and a fabulous to eat.
A Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) share from Maya’s Farm – Healthy, organic produce that is locally grown—what more can you ask for? Maya not only sells at markets around the city but provides many of our top local chefs with produce. A CSA is the gift that keeps giving every week.
Truce – Truce has two goals: get clean and make progress. Their cleaning supplies, lifestyle products and dog shampoos are made from natural ingredients that are listed right on the bottle unlike many cleaning supplies. They believe in doing good and cleaning the world. What a great way to start the New Year.
Absolutely Delightful Local Arizona Honey – Nature’s only natural sweetener that is not refined. The honey comes in natural flavors including orange blossom, alfalfa, mesquite, desert wild flower, Flagstaff wild flower, catsclaw and camelthorn. They also offer bee pollen.
