2019 Slider Throwdown at Kierland Commons

From noon to 3 p.m., Kierland Commons will host a slider cook-off. Attendees will get the chance to taste creations from the Valley’s best food trucks as they compete for the Best Slider title. There will also be activities for children, live music and a silent auction. Tickets are $35 and can be purchased online. Proceeds will be donated to the Arizona Friends of Foster Children Foundation.

Congo Masks and Music: Masterpieces from Central Africa at the Musical Instrument Museum

Join the Musical Instrument Museum for Congo Masks and Music, a celebration of Central Africa’s traditions. The exhibit will include over 150 unique masks, instruments and costumes from the late 1800s to early 1900s. From 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., enjoy music workshops, dance performances, crafting, and a closer look at instruments. Tickets begin at $7. To learn more visit mim.org.

Downtown Donut Festival at Margaret T. Hance Park

One-dollar donuts, mimosas, local brews, live music and an inflatable relaxation lounge? Talk about a true Sunday fun day! From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Margaret T. Hance Park will host over 20 establishments such as Dulce Churro Café, The Doughnut Peddler and Sweet Dee’s during the Downtown Donut Festival. The event will also include a kid’s zone, lawn games, coffee and savory vendors. Tickets range from $8 to $10 and can be purchased online.
