With the extreme heat creeping into the Valley this weekend, June 8-10, take your little ones out to enjoy some refreshing fun in the sun. From cool pool parties to an air-conditioned museum rendezvous, this weekend has something in store for everyone to grab a slice of the fun…without melting.

So, You want to be a Music Major? at Arizona State University

“High School Musical” hitting close to home? Well, then bring out your high school kiddos this Friday so they can follow in the footsteps of their idols. ASU is inviting all high school juniors and seniors to ASU to give them a little guidance on audition strategies, career options in music, master classes and college-application tips. You can also expect to see some performances by ASU faculty and students.

Alex’s Lemonade Stand at Firebirds Wood Fired Grill

Firebirds Wood Fired Grill is inviting the Phoenix community to join them in the fight against childhood cancer by visiting their local Firebirds restaurant June 8-10 for a glass of refreshing, house-made lemonade. (The brand-new San Tan location just opened on June 5!) In partnership with Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF) and its annual Lemonade Days fundraiser, Firebirds will be selling lemonade for $3 per cup at stands outside its doors June 8 and June 9, 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Sunday, June 10, 11:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. All proceeds will go to ALSF. In addition, Firebirds will donate $1 for each slice of Big Daddy Lemon Cake sold at all Firebirds restaurants.

Itty Bitty Beach Party

Grab the sunscreen and the floaties because this Friday, June 8, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m., your kiddos have a day-party to attend at the Paradise Valley Pool. This poolside shindig for children ages 6 and younger (with an adult) includes safety lessons, games, dance contests, swimsuit contests, refreshments and more. Sponsored by CIGNA HealthCare of Arizona and the City of Phoenix Parks and Recreation Department.

Disney’s Aladdin Jr. at Desert Stages Theatre

H2Oasis at CityScape

Cool down this Saturday by coming out to CityScape and enjoying its transformation into a waterpark. Families can slide down more than 10 giant inflatable water slides and enjoy family-friendly activities. Partnered with the Lincoln Family Downtown YMCA, proceeds from this event will benefit the “Safety Around Water” program that teaches the importance of water safety skills. Mediterranean Weekend at Musical Instruments Museum

With Saturday, June 9, being World Oceans Day, the Musical Instrument Museum is celebrating one of the most beautiful bodies of water in the world, the Mediterranean Sea. Prowl and Play: Superheroes Unite! at The Phoenix Zoo

This Saturday, The Phoenix Zoo is celebrating World Oceans Day with ocean conservation games and crafts. Join the Superhero Training Academy, enjoy water slides on the lakeside lawn, make masks, take pictures with favorite characters, and enjoy a meet and greet with author of “Edie Goes the Wrong Way,” Susan Stoltz. Fleetwood Mac Tribute at McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park

Give your kids a little history lesson this weekend and teach them about the musical phenomenon, Fleetwood Mac. After they pass their lesson, take them out to enjoy a free concert and railroad attractions at the McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park.
