Sunny and 65 is this weekend's forecast and nothing goes better with sunny skies than shimmering smiles from your bright and shining kiddos. So go and celebrate all the hard work accomplished this week at any of these fun events happening in the Valley this weekend Feb. 23-25.


Friday:

Free Art Friday at Edna Vihel Center

This Friday, from 9 to 11 a.m., the Edna Vihel Center in Tempe is providing a free, family-friendly opportunity for children of all ages to put their artistry to the test. They will have the opportunity to create pieces around a theme that showcases their creative spirit.

Canal Convergence Water+Art+Light

This interactive art show features amazing life-size art and dance shows. It is presented by the Scottsdale Public Art and Salt River Project, and there will be family-friendly hands-on activities, art and dance workshops and live performances.

“Beauty and the Computer Geek” at East Valley Children’s Theatre

Enjoy this award-winning original play based on the classic princess tale, Sleeping Beauty. This tale with a twist incorporates a 21st century prince time traveling back in time to save the princess and break the evil spell. To purchase tickets click here

Price Wheel Day at AZ Airtime

Here’s a fun, new way for children to spend their Friday evening! Upon paying for admission at AZ Airtime, your child will get a chance to spin the prize wheel. Prizes will include free jump time, free slushies, other snack bar items, and much more! Admission is $9 for the first hour for ages 6 and under; $6 extra hours; $14 for the first hour for ages 7 and up; $9 extra hours. Foam pit and rock wall climbing is included with admission and jump socks are required. Jump time will be from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Arizona Science Center

Bring your curious youngsters to the Arizona Science Center this weekend as they explore their curiosity with the many exhibits the center has to offer. Spring Training Opening Day for the Arizona Diamondbacks

Spring training opening day is this Saturday, Feb. 24! So grab your kiddos, your best Diamondbacks gear and go support your favorite players as they take on the Cleveland Indians. Game starts at 1:10 p.m.

Arizona Matsuri

This weekend, enjoy the two-day event featuring the sights and sounds of Japan via art, crafts, music, dance and much more. AZ Matsuri is going to be held at Heritage & Science Park in Downtown Phoenix and is free to all. There will be delicious Japanese food and goods from more than 60 vendors available for purchase.

Authenticated Cheese Slice Exhibit at SmoCA

Enjoy a relaxing stroll around the Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art while soaking up all of the great pieces from the artist duo, The Art Guys. This duo is known for creating comical pieces that bring a different approach to typical art. Their current exhibit is the Authenticated Cheese Slice exhibit where you are greeted with a display of 600 pieces of cheese slices as you walk in.

Hall of Flame Museum of Firefighting

Grace your kids with the power of knowledge this weekend as they learn more about our firefighting heroes and their equipment over the years. Hall of Flame Museum holds the world’s largest display of firefighting equipment dating all the way back to 1725. Wildlife World Zoo

Try something out of the ordinary this weekend as you enter the wild world of some of the most dangerous, yet fascinating animals. Wildlife World Zoo has a variety of activities to do while visiting your favorite creatures. These activities include a giraffe-feeding station, Lory parrot feeding, a kids’ petting zoo, stingray feeding, rides and wildlife encounters. With the recent expansion of the Safari Park and DragonWorld, this weekend is a great weekend to enjoy the beautiful weather while visiting with rare and beautiful animals.
