Arizona Fine Art Expo

From Jan. 10 to March 22, a parcel of land in North Scottsdale will transform into a vibrant arts community for 10 weeks during Arizona Fine Art EXPO. Under white tents on the southwest corner of Scottsdale and Jomax Roads, the event features 124 patron-friendly artist studios that allow a glimpse at the artists, who hail from around the globe, at work—from sculpting to painting to carving and beyond. Season passes are $10; children under 12 are free. Parking is free.

Disney’s Newsies The Musical at Scottsdale Center for Performing Arts

From Jan. 10 to Jan. 12, Detour Company Theatre presents Disney’s Newsies The Musical at the Scottsdale Center for Performing Arts. Based on the 1992 film “Newsies” (which was inspired by the historical Newsboys Strike of 1899 in New York City), the stage version features a score by Alan Menken and Jack Feldman with a book by Harvey Fierstein. Detour Company Theatre offers performance experiences for adults with cognitive and physical disabilities, providing them authentic opportunities to develop artistry, demonstrate courage and collaboration, experience joy and participate in the sharing of musical theater with the entire community.

Arizona Coyotes Day at Gilbert Farmer's Market

Town of Gilbert has proclaimed Jan. 11 as Arizona Coyotes Day! To celebrate, stop by the free family-oriented festival at the Gilbert Farmer's Market Jan. 11 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. There will be Coyotes inflatables and a street hockey rink for children and representatives from the team including Howler, the Coyotes Crew and the Coyotes Street Team will be in attendance. Show your spirit by wearing your Coyotes gear!

Legends of Speed at Phoenix Art Museum

Through March 15, Phoenix Art Museum presents Legends of Speed, the Museum’s first major exhibition of racing cars. Legends of Speed will showcase an unprecedented selection of more than 20 cars spanning six decades and driven by some of the greatest drivers in the history of racing, such as A.J. Foyt, Mario Andretti, Dan Gurney, and Stirling Moss. The special-engagement exhibition is included with general admission.

ZooLights: Glow Wild

Through Jan. 19, Phoenix Zoo will light up 5:30 to 10:30 p.m. nightly during ZooLights. Over one million lights will light up the grounds of the zoo, as well as camel rides and a 200-ft. polar slide. Tickets start at $10.95.

Maricopa County Home & Garden Show

The Maricopa County Home & Garden Show, the largest home show in the Southwest, returns to the Arizona State Fairgrounds on Friday, Jan. 10, through Sunday, Jan. 12. The show marks the return of the Tiny Homes Street of Dreams with smart technology, she sheds, man caves and farmhouse and rustic designs. The event is open Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. General admission tickets are $8 for adults; kids ages 3 to 12 are $2; kids under 2 are free. (A variety of discounted ticket options are available too.) On-site parking is $8.

The Screamery’s Farmhouse Friends & Family Night

The Screamery ice cream shops are hosting a special deal every Sunday night in January from 5 to 10 p.m. During “Farmhouse Friends & Family Night," The Screamery invites ice cream lovers to tackle the enormous Farmhouse Sundae. The sundae includes eight scoops of ice cream loaded with cookies, brownies, butter cake and your choice of toppings. The Screamery offers $5 off the Farmhouse every Sunday night in January. Regular price is $24.50.

Sunday A’Fair at Scottsdale Civic Center Mall

The whole family can enjoy the 33rd season of the popular Sunday A’Fair, a free outdoor concert series at Scottsdale Civic Center Mall, starting at noon. This Sunday’s event includes performances by Miguel Melgoza (pictured) and Whitney Jones.
