Four Seasons is, of course, synonymous with luxury. But with an incredible (and complimentary) kid’s program, family-friendly dining opportunities and plenty of fun under the sun, Four Seasons Resort Scottsdale at Troon North offers up the perfect summer escape for the entire fam.
Stay:
When planning a getaway for the entire family, comfort is key, and Four Seasons Resort Scottsdale at Troon North has accommodations that offer just that while maintaining the luxury that Mom and Dad seek in a summer reprieve. The Vista Casita Room, decked in warm tones with punches of pink and chic, modern artwork, is just right for families. (The beautiful casitas were actually part of a $13-million resort renovation last year.) In addition to one king or two double beds, the contemporary room has a comfy pull-out couch so everyone has plenty of room to stretch out or snuggle up with an in-room movie. Plus, kiddos will get a kick out of turning on the fireplace with the simple press of a button, which is a lovely feature even in the desert heat. Each Vista Casita Room has a patio or balcony to enjoy, as well, and there is truly no better place to catch a summer cotton-candy sunset in Scottsdale.
Play:
From the complimentary daily Kids for All Seasons (KFAS) program and kid-friendly menus to dive-in movies and much more, there is never a dull moment at Four Seasons Scottsdale. Especially during the summer months, it is easy to spend an entire day poolside, which is made even easier when the staff makes the rounds to hand out cooling smoothie samples and ice pops. Like the casitas, the pool was also touched on during the 2018 refresh, welcoming new chairs, contemporary round daybeds and plush chaise lounges. The makeover also added updated furnishings in 18 poolside cabanas, which are the best retreat for families. In addition to shade, misting, privacy and comfy spots to savor some r-n-r, those who reserve a cabana are treated to ice-cold water bottles and a fresh fruit plate. Once lunch rolls around, parents will enjoy the tuna poke bowl and seabass tacos—with a spicy Mango Fuego cocktail on the side. The littlest guests can choose from a long lineup of filling and kid-friendly eats, like chicken, burgers, pizza, pasta and much more. Once the sun goes down, there is no reason to call it a day as Saturday night welcomes a dive-in, family-friendly flick—with popcorn and snow cones, to boot.
If parents crave a little kid-free time (perhaps to check out a Friday afternoon beer tasting at Proof or a Saturday Spanish wine sampling at Talavera, which are both complimentary), the Kids for All Seasons program is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily and free to guests. Parents can drop off their kids for the entire day (lunch is $20) or for a short while, and the wee ones can play the day away building Legos, playing video games, taking to the ping pong or air hockey tables, enjoying board games or art projects with the wonderful KFAS staff, watch a movie in the decked-out theater and more. Everywhere you turn, there is something to see and do in the colorful, amenity-packed KFAS space. The rainbow-hued Lego wall and Star Wars-themed video game space are especially cool. Best of all, Mom and Dad can join their kids at KFAS and challenge them to a game of Candyland or ping pong. KFAS is available to children ages 5 and up, though parents can accompany children of all ages in the space.
Savor:
Proof, an American Canteen is not only one of our favorite spaces to dine in the Valley, it also happens to be one of most kid-friendly spots for digging in. Dishing up American comfort classics, favorites at Proof include fried chicken and waffles, Maine lobster rolls, legendary pretzel knots and even daily-special smokehouse eats on Friday nights. And dinner simply isn’t complete at Proof without a serious helping of ice cream, via a shake, sundae or a simple scoop that make guests of all ages giddy. Celebrating a summer cookout staple, the refreshing peach pie shake is the star of the seasonal dessert lineup.
Each weekend, Proof hosts an incredible brunch buffet brimming with eats the whole family can enjoy—egg dishes, waffles and pancakes, heaps of fresh fruit, salmon and cheese platters, pastries, bacon and sausage, cereal for the kiddos and much more. If Mom and Dad want to take a few more trips through the buffet, kids are gladly kept busy with Etch a Sketches that are kept at the ready for young guests to enjoy. For a “do it for the ‘gram” moment, the thick, shareable Cloud Pancake on Proof’s a la carte menu is not only delicious—topped with tangy lemon curd, fresh blueberries compote and mico basil—but it is sure to bring on the likes.
