Friday:
“Grease School Edition”
Desert Stages Theatre announces the opening night of “Grease School Edition”—a family-friendly adaptation of the 1971 musical “Grease,” performed by actors ages 3 to 19—on Friday, Feb. 22 at 7:30 p.m. at the Desert Stages mainstage. “Grease School Edition” will play Fridays and Saturdays, at 7:30 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays at 2 p.m. through March 24.
Electric Desert at Desert Botanical Garden
Through May 12, check out the desert as it's drenched in light and sound in a mesmerizing display like never before with Klip Collective’s Electric Desert at Desert Botanical Garden. The cacti and desert become a living canvas during this limited-time nighttime experience. Ticket prices vary.
Saturday:
Sixth Annual Italian Festival
The Italian Association of Arizona, welcomes the Sixth Annual Italian Festival celebrating all things Italian. This two-day event will entertain and delight guests with live music, delicious Italian food and wine, dance performances, authentic Italian crafts and more. The festival will take place on Saturday, Feb. 23, and Sunday, Feb. 24, at Old Town Scottsdale’s “Piazza del Southbridge,” south of Camelback Road and west of Scottsdale Road. A portion of the proceeds from the event will go toward St. Vincent de Paul, an organization that helps feed, clothe, house and heal those in need in Arizona.
Modern Milk Turns One
Modern Milk in Gilbert is turning one on Saturday, Feb. 23. To celebrate, the locally owned company is hosting free back-to-back fitness classes from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. including Mommy & Me FIIT, Prenatal Yoga, Parent & Baby Yoga and others. There will also be kid’s yoga, a photo booth, treats and more. Modern Milk will be collecting donations of formula, diapers and baby food for Moms Pantry, an organization that serves the community by distributing essentials to adults and children. Every mom who visits will be entered to win one free year of fitness. This event is open to the public.
DogFest Phoenix 2019
DogFest is a family- and dog-friendly event benefiting Canine Companions for Independence. Fun-filled activities include raffle prizes, vendors, music and so much more starting at 10 a.m. at Scottsdale Civic Center Plaza Park.
ASU Open Door @ Tempe
Bring your family and explore the Arizona State University during ASU Open Door @ Tempe. This is a rare opportunity to get a behind-the-scenes look into the spaces that house the most innovative projects, including the Biodesign Institute, ASU Super Computer, Mars Space Flight Facility, Marston Exploratory Theater and more. The event takes place from 1 to 6 p.m. at the Tempe campus.
Bike In Movie: Jumanji
Bring your bikes and picnic blankets to enjoy a Bike In Movie at Horizon Park on Saturday, Feb. 23, from 5 to 8:30 p.m. There will be a screening of “Jumanji” (1995), bike activities, a free play area and food vendors.
Walk with Me Family Fun Walk
On Saturday, Feb. 23, families are invited to join the one-mile Walk with Me Family Fun Walk featuring activities, food and drinks, games, crafts and more for all ages. Presented by the Arizona Coyotes Foundation, Humana and Lockton Companies, the event benefits the Southwest Human Development’s Easterseals disabilities services. The event takes place at Scottsdale Civic Center Park; registration starts at 8 a.m. with the walk starting at 9 .m. Sunday:
Arizona Renaissance Festival
Get ready to be transported back to the 16th century as one of the largest and most picturesque renaissance festivals is now in town. The Arizona Renaissance Festival runs every Saturday and Sunday through March 31 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Roam the 30-acre festival village filled with whimsical castles, cottages and pubs, take in 14 stages of nonstop performances of music, mermaids, merriment, dance, acrobatics and comedy and cheer on knights during the jousting tournaments. Huzzah!
The LEGO Movie Days at LEGOLAND Discovery Center Arizona
LEGOLAND Discovery Center Arizona is celebrating the long-awaited The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part with movie-themed event days from Feb. 8 to March 31. The ultimate indoor LEGO playground features 10 LEGO build and play zones, a 4D cinema, rides and special movie-themed fun all geared for families with children ages 3 to 10. The LEGO Movie Days will host character meet and greets, a themed scavenger hunt and much more fun.
