More engaged couples are choosing fabulous backyards to say their vows. The option of using a space that is part of a family member’s or close friend’s home is romantic and some attention to detail can become very intimate.
Tents are a great way to turn a large open area into an enclosed space. Basically, making something out of nothing. It is the best canvas for creativity and customization.
When you first contact a tent company they are probably going to want to do an on site inspection. With exact dimensions they can give you options on what kind of tents you might want and how many will actually fit.
There are three types of tents that are most commonly used in events: tension tents, push-pole, and frame tents.
Push-pole tents are the most popular type of tent. Their ceilings slope from center pole down to a series of poles that create the perimeter of the tent. These tents require seven feet of space around the perimeter so that they can be anchored in the ground by stakes.
This type of tent has interior poles to support the entire structure, which to the eye is not the most pleasing feature. By using drapery these poles and the roof of the tent can be completely transformed.

The walls on the perimeter of the tent are removable, like all tents. They can come in plain white, clear vinyl or in a cathedral-window style.
Walls of a tent can be left off the tent entirely, creating an indoor/outdoor feel so guests can enjoy their surroundings during the reception.

Fabrics can change the feel of your tent instantly. By adding colors and draping in various patterns, the tent becomes a ballroom in the middle of a big open space.
Only the frame of the tent was used in the picture below. Various shades of nude were draped allowing the tent to bring the outside in.

Luxurious fabric, an ornate chandelier, and hanging mirrors took the tent below and created a custom space with in the tent. Elegance and Sophistication surrounded the guests but made the tent unrecognizable.

If you choose to use a tent for your wedding day make sure you customize it for the feel of your day. You don’t want to look back at pictures 10, 20 years from now and see a big white structure; you want to see your one-and-only wedding day.
