Many of us are dying to escape the sweltering heat waves of Arizona and luckily, Labor Day is just right around the corner for us to do so. Spend your day off by cooling down and refreshing at one of the four best lakes in Arizona.

Lake Powell
With its surely endless miles of shoreline and vast blue skies, Lake Powell is a utopian-like destination that offers complete tranquility and spectacular sights. Rent a houseboat and cruise along to see vibrant canyons and the historical landmarks La Gorce Arch, Cathedral in the Desert and Rainbow Bridge National Monument. Other activities provided at the lake include waterskiing, wakeboarding, fishing, and horseback riding.

Lake Pleasant

Lake Pleasant
There is a reason why Lake Pleasant is called Lake Pleasant. Located north of Phoenix, the lake offers a delightful scenic view of open water and desert landscape. With numerous boat docks, the lake is ideal for water recreational activities such as boating, waterskiing and is especially popular for fishing. Lake Pleasant is known to have a large mixture of all sorts of fish species. There are other activities to enjoy as well including hiking or mountain biking along the spacious trails.

lake havasu

Lake Havasu
Lake Havasu is home to the second London Bridge and the closest Arizona will ever get in having a beach. With the soft sands and little waves, Windsor Beach is the perfect place for a dreamy experience without having to travel hundreds of thousands of miles away. Take a swim or relax in the warm sun and tan in pure bliss. The water is not only deep enough for swimming, but even for scuba diving and snorkeling. You can also embark on a little sailing adventure to find and explore the coves around the lake.

Tempe Town Lake

Tempe Town Lake
Located in downtown Tempe and right along Arizona State University, this urban lake attracts college students, residents and visitors. You can find everyone participating in various boating activities such as sailing, rowing and paddling. Small green hills and concrete sidewalks surround the lake as well, fitted for picnics, lounging with family and friends and simple strolls to enjoy the scenery.
