Head to downtown Mesa tonight for the opening reception of Mesa Contemporary Arts latest exhibitions from 7pm until 10pm! The evening will include live music, refreshments and food, plus an opportunity to meet many of the artists with free admission to museum!
Check out ARTillery Contemporary Art Influenced by Weaponry, this exhibition examining the appearance and meaning of weaponry in contemporary art. This is a large grow exhibition featuring artists from all over the country, including two artists from Arizona Fred Tieken based in Paradise Valley and Jackson Boelts from Tucson. This fascinating exhibition was curated by Annie Adjchavanich and is on view in the Dobson Main Gallery.
The North Gallery features Patched the solo exhibition of local artist Kaori Takamura showcasing the artist’s mixed media paintings that are both vibrant and graphic utilizing symbols and metaphorical “stitching” technique, creating a commentary ordinary on life. Takamura incorporates unconventional textile methods that are based on traditional fabric patterning, embroidery and lace vector art as a way of expressing women's tangled and intricate everyday feelings.
Explore an incredible 288 square foot embroidery installation titled Vantage Point by Montana artist, Maggy Rozycki Hiltner. This beautiful artwork offers engaging nostalgic imagery placed within a idyllic landscape that is a commentary on environmental issues.
Seattle Series is the latest work of talented local Mesa artist, William Barnhart. This exhibition highlights captivating large scale oil paintings that he created while sailing on Lake Union in Washington. This series showcases what the artist experienced, his love of the water, and his love of aquatic and aviary life blended together with his bold style. This exhibition was curated by Robrt Pela and is on view in the South Gallery.
Also on display is Docent Select, an exhibition featuring a great selection of artwork from the Mesa Contemporary Arts permanent collection.
