Get your spoons ready! The Valley’s top newscasters will compete in the “Sundae Summit Challenge” ice cream eating contest at The Phoenician on Sunday, August 31 at 12 p.m. The event, which is open to the public, will allow visitors to support the children and family members of the 19 Yarnell firefighters who recently lost their lives by donating to the Yarnell Fire Memorial Scholarship Endowment. The Sundae Summit Chalenge--which is sold at the resort's Cafe and Ice Cream Parlor for $49--is actually a concoction of 19 scoops of ice cream, three Heath bars, three Hershey’s Milk Chocolate bars, six ounces of caramel sauce, six ounces of strawberry sauce, two cups of chocolate sauce and one cup of whipped cream, along with other signature ingredients. In other words, more than 14,000 calories of yumminess.
Scheduled to compete in the Sundae Summit Challange are:
- Tyler Baldwin – Channel 3, Arizona’s Family
- Katie Baker – CBS 5 News
- Troy Hayden – FOX 10 News
- Christopher Sign – ABC 15 News
