The Bob and Renee Parsons Foundation (Bob Parsons is the founder of Valley-based Go Daddy) has teamed up with JDRF (Junior Diabetes Research Foundation) to offer very special opportunity for locals to give back to the community: a $500,000 matching grant. The goal an for the community to match the Parsons and have a $1,000,000 Fund-A-Cure, meaning that 100 percent of the million dollars goes directly to JDRF encapsulation research.
Beta cell encapsulation represents advances that could become the foundation for a new approach to treating and ultimately curing Type 1 Diabetes (T1D). Encapsulated cell therapy has the potential to virtually eliminate the daily management burden for those living with T1D. DRF believes that the development of their Encapsulation Consortium will re-energize the field, spur innovation and continue advancements toward clinical testing.
