This season at Fashion Week, many changes were underway; gone are the days where we gathered in the tents of Bryant Park to view the shows. We now are finding fashion refuge in Lincoln Center. I wish I could I say that there were as interesting happenings in the collections as there were in the venues. This season, I was underwhelmed and felt that most of the designers were out of touch with what the consumer really wanted to see. Luckily, there were some standout collections.
Jason Wu
This entire collection is absolutely effortless; perfect prints, exquisitely tailored and ultrafeminine. It’s for the girl on-the-go who has no time for the fuss of fashion.
Costello Tagliapietra
This collection felt so accurate with its neutral colors, sculpted silhouettes and ladylike vibe; it was success. Robert Tagliapietra and Jeffry Costello, the duo behind the label, are masters at smart fashion. These pieces are the go-to closet gems.
Marc Jacobs
My first thoughts when I saw the collection: “Halston has come back for a psychedelic tea party.” Jacobs’ Spring/Summer collection was fabulously frivolous, correctly elaborate and sexy. It was the fun I was looking for this season and something that spiced up the week. Jacobs did not disappoint.
Luca Luca
From the moment I saw the first look of this show, I instantly thought of Arizona women. As much as I would like to push heavy silk/wool blends and laser-cut furs on you for Spring/Summer, it simply would not make sense. After all, we do live in the desert. These light fabrics will keep us looking chic in the unforgiving heat of 2011. The collection was ultrafeminine, effortless and sophisticated.
