10 Things to do in Phoenix This Weekend
We know; it’s just been one of those weeks. Odysea Aquarium is bringing back it’s renowned Nightlife event and it is featuring live music, a five-course strolling dinner, cocktails, Animal Ambassador appearances, and behind-the-scenes tours. Rockin’ Taco Rumble at Events on Jackson
Arizona’s first annual Rockin’ Taco Rumble is expected to “bring the heat, the meat and all the cheesy puns” on Friday, March 2, to Events on Jackson in Downtown Phoenix. Not only will this event feature local delicious Mexican delicacies, but guests will also enjoy local craft beer and spirits, live music, sweet treats and sides. Doors open at 6 p.m. and so does the fun! Tickets are $45 and are your gateway to unlimited taco sampling and six drinks. A portion of the proceeds will be benefiting the Phoenix Community Alliance, and there will be the chance for guests to vote for their favorite taco for the People’s Choice competition. McDowell Mountain Music Festival
Get groovy this weekend at the McDowell Music Festival with funky tunes from Big Gigantic, Nick Murphy, Mura Masa, Father John Misty, Gorgon City and so many more. This two-day event is known for providing attendees with grade-A entertainment and attractions while staying true and dedicated to their original purpose of bringing community, culture and charity together. America’s beloved Dancing with the Stars is quick-stepping their way to the Valley this weekend for two days of sensational performances, that even Len would give a perfect 10. Tommy Bahama Presents an Evening with Ned Colletti
Spring training season is here, and it just got a whole lot more exciting for baseball fanatics! This Saturday, March 3, Tommy Bahama Presents an Evening with Ned Colletti, former Los Angeles Dodgers’ general manager. Previously known for being a successful baseball executive, Colletti has added esteemed author to his resume and is bringing his memoir “The Big Chair: The Smooth Hops and Bad Bounces from the Inside World of the Acclaimed Los Angeles Dodgers General Manager,” with him to the Valley this weekend. This book gives a rare inside look into the depths of America’s favorite past time. Colletti will be joined by David Vassegh, host of Dodger Talk on AM570 Sports radio, for a Q&A about the book, followed by a book signing and rare photo opportunity. Copies of “The Big Chair” will be available for sale at the event through Poisoned Pen Bookstore on site.
KMLE 107.9 is celebrating the start of spring training by throwing a baseball-themed pool party at Talking Stick Resort. This event will feature an all-star line-up of performers such as Dustin Lynch, High Valley, Old Dominion, Brandon Lay, a beer garden, ballpark-grilled food and prizes on Friday, March 2, and Saturday, March 3! A Sip of Science at Tomaso’s Italian Restaurant
Attention all science nerds: come listed to neuroscientists Paul Coleman and Diego Mastroeni talk about their dedication to studying Alzheimer’s, dementia and other brain-related illnesses as well as how they are trying to unlock mysteries of the brain such as nature versus nurture, how to help children develop their brain-power and more. Admission is $15 and includes light appetizers as well as happy hour pricing on beer and wine. Proceeds from the event will be used to fund community science events.
Nine & Wine is happening again this Sunday! This weekly event is for adults ranging from beginners to experts looking to have a little fun during their tee time. The event includes up to nine holes of golf with a mentor to help you out when needed. After completing your game, there is an opportunity for wine tasting and appetizers. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Phoenix Chapter of NAWIC, National Association of Women in Construction. Golf attire is recommended and clubs are available for rent.
