The weekend of Jan. 12 through Jan. 14 marks the start of Barrett-Jackson at WestWorld, the Arizona Fine Art EXPO and many more fun winter events in the Valley. And don't forget it's the last weekend to get out to ZooLights at the Phoenix Zoo.
FRIDAY
Rock ‘n’ Roll Arizona Marathon & Half Marathon
New to the 2018 event, Tempe Beach Park’s Rock ‘n’ Roll Arizona Marathon & Half Marathon has announced a third day of running to the race weekend (Jan. 12-14). The new one-mile distance event will take place Friday night, with the 5K returning on Saturday and the marathon, half marathon and 10K taking place on Sunday. Event-goers can also enjoy the post-race Toyota Rock ‘n’ Roll Concert Series and a two-day Health and Fitness Expo at the Phoenix Convention Center.
ZooLights at Phoenix Zoo
It's your last weekend to enjoy ZooLights! Each year, the Phoenix Zoo puts up an amazing holiday display of lights that is fun for the entire family. ZooLights is open in the evenings for about six weeks during the holiday season, beginning late November, from 5:30 to 10:30 p.m., and continuing through Jan. 14. Purchase your tickets here.
The Arizona Fine Art EXPO
Renowned artists from across the globe will make their way to North Scottsdale for 10 weeks (Jan. 12 through March 25) as they create and showcase original pieces of for-sale fine art for the Arizona Fine Art EXPO. The event features 115 studios within a 44,000-sq.-ft. white tent space, where guests have a rare chance to meet the artists, see them in action (whether sculpting, painting, sketching, carving, welding or staining) and more. Season passes are $10; season passes for seniors and military are $8; and children under 12 are free.
SATURDAY
Barret-Jackson
“The World’s Greatest Collector Car Auction,” Barret-Jackson, comes roaring into WestWorld of Scottsdale Jan. 13-21. Of note for this season’s event is the auction of a 2017 Ford GT that was donated by businessman Ron Pratte to the Evernham Family-Racing for a Reason Foundation, with proceeds benefiting the Autism Society of North Carolina’s IGNITE program. The program offers activities, skills training and educational workshops that address the social, financial, educational and employment needs of young adults with high-functioning autism or Asperger’s Syndrome.
BeSpokeYoga at Mountain Shadows
Yoga meets cycling at this unique fitness event. At 4:30 p.m., BeSpokeYoga instructor Veronica Clark will begin the session with an invigorating bicycle ride through the neighborhoods surrounding Mountain Shadows and end with a series of stretches that are tailored for cyclists and yogis alike. Post-sweat sesh, attendees are invited to sip a Devotini cocktail in the resort’s cozy Living Room and unwind. $50 includes guided bike ride, yoga class, parking and cocktail; $85 also includes a bike rental.
ACE Comic Con Arizona
Even moms and dads will adore this star-studded action. Chris Evans, of “Captain America,” and Tom Holland, of “Spider-Man: Homecoming” and “Captain America: Civil War,” along with a few other superstar pals and guests from the World Wrestling Entertainment, are sure to get a superhero's welcome as they headline the new ACE Comic Con Arizona at Gila River Arena, taking place Jan. 13 through Jan. 15. In addition to event tickets, VIP admission and photo op and autograph opportunities are for sale.
Man of La Mancha at Herberger Theater
Man of La Mancha runs from Jan. 7-28 at the Herberger Theater Center in Phoenix. Arizona Theatre Company (David Ivers, Artistic Director; Billy Russo, Managing Director) brings a thrilling reimagined Man of La Mancha to stages in Phoenix, taking inspiration from the spontaneous, raw theatricality of flamenco performance and focusing on the passion and virtuosity of the intertwined stories of Don Quixote and his imprisoned creator, Miguel de Cervantes. Single ticket prices range from $25 to $80.

The Maricopa County Home & Garden Show (Jan. 12-14) at the Arizona Fairgrounds has thousands of ways to upgrade your space in the New Year. Get expert advice from thousands of vendors, learn how to do it all yourself with free DIY seminars and shop unique local artisans and their handmade wares. Plus, learn how to live small at the Tiny Homes Street of Dreams, packed with micro abodes and back by popular demand. Open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday. Ticket prices vary.

The Art of Ice Cream Experience
An Instagrammer's dream, The Art of Ice Cream Experience pop-up exhibit is found on Craftsman Court, just north of 3rd Avenue, in Scottsdale. Ice cream lovers are invited to enjoy themed rooms and tasty samples during this delicious voyage for all five senses. The Art of Ice Cream Experience is around through the end of February and will run daily from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. (Guests can choose their arrival time and will have approximately 60 minutes to explore.) The Manhattan Transfer at Celebrity Theatre
One of the most innovative vocal groups in the history of popular music, The Manhattan Transfer, brings its harmonic jazz stylings to the Valley on Wednesday, Jan. 31, at 7:30 p.m., at the Celebrity Theatre in Phoenix. The one-night-only performance is part of Scottsdale Arts’ new Scottsdale Arts Presents series, which showcases artists and programs at venues beyond the downtown Scottsdale campus.
