Ostrich fans unite! Well, if there is such a thing. Regardless of your affinity towards large flightless birds, the 28th Annual Ostrich Festival at Tumbleweed Park in Chandler promises to provide fun for the whole family. From petting zoos and pony rides to heart-pumping carnival jaunts and cool concerts by popular recording artists, here’s our round up of favorites at this years fest.
Ostrich Races
Pretty obvious but we had to list the festival namesake in first place. As one might imagine, ostrich races are a mesmerizing and often unpredictable display. Professional riders take the reins of a chariot or ride bareback around a stadium race track. If that's enough, don’t worry, this year’s races will include a variety of exotic creatures like camels, zebras and emus.
Mainstage Shows
Chandler will be transformed into a mini music fest with the likes of Disney superstar Skai Jackson and Grammy-award winning Ozomatli rocking the stage. Attendees can also expect killer performances from Parmalee, Kailin and Myles, The English Beat and Ozokids.
Carnival Rides
Kids and adults alike can get their thrills on more than eighteen rides at the festival grounds. Jump aboard the Giant Ferris Wheel which provides passengers with a sweeping view from nearly 100 feet high or tackle the Footloose where two gigantic arms loop counter-clockwise to each other, turning completely upside down. Pro Tip: we recommend limiting the number of fried foods consumed prior to your carnival excursion.
Moto Maniacs
Evel Knievel himself would be proud of this thrilling live performance filled with the most incredible motorcycle stunts and acrobatic displays you've probably ever seen. Spectators can expect nonstop action, amazing stunts, explosive music and intense heart palpitations.
Food Truck Alley
Festivals are more about the food than anything else in our opinion. Foodies will be able to enjoy a host of local favorite food truck vendors offering a smorgasbord of delicious noshings and comfort food. Just remember our advice on the carnival rides.
BONUS: Beer Garden
Prost! For 21+ the fest gets a little friskier with frosty brews inside the Ostrich Festival beer garden. Of course, remember to drink responsibly and utilize a DD, Uber, or other source of reliable transportation if you choose to imbibe. The rule on #3 applies to this area as well.
