Wings to Fly

Where: Mayer

Ages: Girls 12-16

Cost: $995

Since 2009, girls from across the country have attended Wings to Fly Camps to discover what matters the most, like family, friends and education. Catered exclusively to young women, Wings to Fly encourages leadership, empowers dreams and inspires confidence. More than 60 fun activities are available ranging from high ropes courses, rock-climbing excursions, girls will learn about themselves and how to work on a team. Traditional camp activities include hiking, swimming, horseback riding along with activities where campers learn about yoga, healthy eating and cooking, managing money and important communication skills.

Camp Innovation: LEGO Robotics

Where: Phoenix

Ages: 12-14

Cost: $225

Children can open their imagination and become skilled engineers at the Arizona Science Center this summer. By combining math and engineering, kids can learn and grow by testing various robotics, working in teams to build, programing their very own LEGO robots and competing in an Arizona Science Center robotics competition.

Kids Cooking Camp

Where: Scottsdale

Ages: 8-12

Cost: $250

Hosted by Sweet Basil Gourmetware & Cooking School Inc., young chefs can gain hands-on experience in the kitchen. A different cooking theme is featured each day as kids have fun crafting up their very own cuisine in the kitchen. All supplies are provided and a buffet-style meal is served at the end of each class session.

Kids Yoga Camp

Little yogis learn traditional yoga practices and postures together with yoga-based arts and crafts, games, stories and group activities. Friendly Pines Camp

Where: Prescott

Ages: 6-13

Cost: Full season, $5,950

What began in 1941 in the pine-clad Bradshaw Mountains of the Prescott National Forest has become an Arizona tradition. Campers enjoy all of the wonders of childhood and can choose from a lengthy list of activities ranging from horseback riding, waterskiing, rock-climbing, sports, performing arts, fine arts, pets, hiking, canoeing, kayaking and much more. Facilities include tennis courts, a swimming pool, cabin villas, log house, Kiva Room, dining lodge, infirmary, pony-riding pens and shooting ranges.

Junior Animal Keepers Camp

Where: Phoenix

Ages: 12-14

Cost: $275

The Arizona Animal Welfare League and the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals have paired up to bring a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to Valley tweens. The summer camp offers opportunities to follow in the footsteps of animal professionals.  Students take part in daily keeper chores to maintain healthy animals, working in the reptile room small-mammal area and other behind-the-scenes areas.  Participants learn and develop the skills to manage records, food orders and learn the science behind animals.

Each day is filled with a learning experience and adventure at Camp Spark. Young girls will have the opportunity to learn the importance of sportsmanship and teamwork while playing sports. Additionally, an anti-bullying campaign will be presented as it is essential to uphold the fun at camp each day. Activities include dancing, baking, arts, crafts, soccer, basketball, volleyball, relay races and more.

Future Stars International Summer Camp Adventures

Where: Peoria

Ages: 5-13

Cost: $650

Archery, basketball, soccer, football and hockey are just a few of the action-packed sports activities that children can take part in. The camp also hosts guest speakers, visiting shows and a plethora of fun water splash activities.

Cactus Day Camp

Where: Fountain Hills

Ages: Preschool to Grade 7

Cost: $500 per two-week session

Pack a swimming suit and towel in your little camper’s backpack, as  each day Cactus Day Camp offers a variety of water activities like water slides, sprinklers, bucket brigades, water balloons and much more to cool your little one off this summer. Each Friday the camp hosts special days such as carnival, Olympics, color day and disco day to encourage fun and learning. The camp offers group-oriented rallies, a chill zone for campers to socialize and relax, guest visits and special events and even a towering rock climbing wall.
