As the summer movie season slowly draws to a close, moviegoers have a whole new set of cinema to prepare for. While the summer is typically reserved for the high-flying blockbusters, the fall movie season is when studios let out their more diverse collection of films. The Words
Opening: September 7
Starring Bradley Cooper, Zoe Saldana, Olivia Wilde and Dennis Quaid, “The Words” centers on Rory Jensen (Cooper), a struggling writer who dreams of becoming a literary legend and, after discovering a lost manuscript, passes the work off as his own and finally achieves success. But, Jensen soon discovers that there is a price to be paid for stealing another man’s work.

Resident Evil: Retribution
Opening: September 14
The fifth installment in Sony’s global hit action horror franchise, “Resident Evil: Retribution” brings audience back into the world of the Umbrella Corporation who have created a deadly T-virus that transforms the global population into legions of the flesh eating Undead. The last hope for the human race, Alice (Milla Jovovich), has been captured and awakens in the heart of the corporation’s operating facility and must escape to fight alongside the resistance in the continuing battle.

The Perks of Being a Wallflower
Opening: September 14
Adapted from the modern classic novel of the same name and directed and written by the book’s author, Stephen Chbosky, “Perks,” starring Logan Lerman, Emma Watson and Ezra Miller, is a classic coming-of-age story centered around 14 year-old Charlie (Lerman). An introverted high school freshman, Charlie befriends seniors Sam (Watson) and Patrick (Miller) who take him under their wings and welcome him into the real world as the three deal with love, loss and struggling to find where they all belong.

House at the End of the Street
Opening: September 21
Megastar Jennifer Lawrence, known for her take as Katniss Everdeen in the “Hunger Games” franchise, takes on terror in this thriller directed by Mark Tonderai. “House at the End of the Street” follows Elissa (Lawrence) and her mother as they move into the house of their dreams in a new town, only to discover they live next door to a house with a gruesome story of young girl who brutally murdered her parents. When strange and unexplained things begin to happen and as Elissa befriends the surviving son in the house next door, she learns that the story is far from over.

The sequel to the blockbuster action thriller starring Liam Neeson brings audiences back into the world of retired CIA operative Bryan Mills (Neeson) a year after the rescue of his daughter from European sex traffickers. While in Istanbul, Mills’ ex-wife and daughter are taken by an Albanian gangster and the father of a kidnapper Mills killed when rescuing his daughter forcing Mills to once again hunt down the captors and save his family.

The Paperboy
Opening: October 5
The drama directed by Lee Daniels and starring Matthew McConaughey, Nicole Kidman, Zac Efron and John Cusack debuted this year at the Cannes film festival and has been generating non-stop buzz ever since. The film sets up around a man (Cusack) convicted of killing a local sheriff who gets an opportunity at freedom when a female pen pal (Kidman) enlists the help of two journalists to try and get him off death row.

Alex Cross
Opening: October 19
The gritty crime thriller based on the 12th novel in the popular Alex Cross book series by James Patterson and directed by Rob Cohen centers on Dr. Alex Cross (Tyler Perry) a doctor, detective and family man who investigates hitman Michael "The Butcher" Sullivan’s (Matthew Fox) gruesome murders when Sullivan decides to send him a message by killing his wife in cold blood. Cross attempts to hunt down the elusive murderer while pushing himself to a personal ethical breaking point.

The Big Wedding
Opening: October 26
With a big-name cast including young stars Amanda Seyfried and Topher Grace as well as Hollywood heavyweights Robert De Niro, Diane Keaton and Robin Williams, the family comedy looks into the lives of a long-divorced couple (De Niro and Keaton) who must fake being married as their family unites for the wedding of one of their children.

Skyfall
Opening: November 9
The much anticipated 23rd installment of the James Bond film series starring Daniel Craig in his third appearance as Bond and directed by Sam Mendes, takes a new turn as Bond's loyalty to M (Judi Dench) is tested when her past comes back to haunt her. After going missing a presumed dead, Bond returns to MI6 to learn it is under attack by a new villain (Javier Bardem) who claims a connection to both M and Bond forcing 007 to track down and destroy the latest threat.

Lincoln
Opening: November 9
The biopic revolving around the 16th President of the United States stars Daniel Day Lewis in the title role and is directed by Steven Spielberg. The historical drama looks into Lincoln’s life as he leads the Union North into victory over the Confederate South during the American Civil War. The film is based on the Doris Kearns Goodwin's book, Team of Rivals, which chronicles the President's time in office between 1861 and 1865.

The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2
Opening: November 16
The much-buzzed-about final installment in the box office giant “Twilight” franchise starring Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner comes to a close with “Breaking Dawn Part 2.” After giving birth to half-vampire half-human child Renesmee (Mackenzie Foy), Bella (Stewart), Edward (Pattinson) and the rest of their family face their greatest obstacle yet as The Volturi set their sights on the destruction of the couple’s child.

Anna Karenina
Opening: November 16
The film adaptation of the classic literary masterpiece known by many as the greatest novel of all time and written by Leo Tolstoy, takes place in late 19th century Russia as aristocrat Anna Karenina (Keira Knightley), trapped in a loveless marriage, engages in a dangerous and life-changing affair with Count Vronsky (Aaron Johnson).
