With the weather warming up, now is the perfect time to grab a popcorn and a Coke and enjoy the air-conditioning at your local theater. Here are the must-see movies for spring 2012.
March 9
“Friends with Kids”
Join “Bridesmaids” stars Kristen Wiig, Jon Hamm and Maya Rudolph and costars Adam Scott and Jennifer Westfeldt for this spring’s daring comedy, “Friends with Kids.” When the last two singles in a group of married couples hears how everything changes when you have kids they decide there must be a better way. Their solution: have a kid together while dating other people.
“John Carter”
Former military captain John Carter is transported to Mars and thrown into a war between the plant’s inhabitants: Tars Tarkas and Princess Dejah Thoris. When he realizes Barsoom’s existence rests in his hands, Carter uncovers his humanity and helps save the planet. “John Carter” is available in 3D at select theaters.
“A Thousand Words”
Eddie Murphy’s character, Jack, is an agent who uses his smooth fast-talking to get the job done, but his best asset also gets him into the most trouble. When Jack visits Dr. Sinja he learns a thing or two about karma. Every time Jack speaks Dr. Sinja’s magical Bodhi tree losesa leave. After one thousand words, Jack will die.
March 16
“21 Jump Street”
Schmidt and Jenko, Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill, join the police force as part of the Jump Street unit and go undercover in a local high school to uncover a drug ring. When the two unlikely cops trade in their guns and badges for protracters and books they realize high school is different than when they left it a few years prior. Now Schmidt and Jenko are faced with a dangerous drug ring and the anxiety of being a teenager again.
March 23
“The Hunger Games”
Based on the series by Suzanne Collins, “The Hunger Games” is set in the near-future United States, now called Panem after the U.S. collapsed from drought, fire, famine, and war. Panem is divided into the Capitol and 12 districts. The Hunger Games feature 24 participants who are forced to eliminate their competitors to survive. Sixteen year-old Katniss’ younger sister, Prim, is selected to participate, but Katniss takes her place with male, Peeta, to compete against participants who have trained for this their whole lives.
“October Baby”
Newborn star, Hannah, steps onto the stage for her college theatrical debut, but as the curtain rises she collapses. Medical tests point to Hannah’s difficult birth, but this is nothing compared to discovering she was adopted after a failed attempt at abortion. Hannah embarks on a journey with her oldest friend, Jason, to discover her past and her future.
March 30
“Mirror Mirror”
The retelling of one of the most beloved stories of all time, Snow White, takes a more modern and comedic twist in “Mirror Mirror.” Julia Roberts, the evil stepmother, kills Snow White’s father and destroys the kingdom forcing Snow White to band together with seven dwarfs to reclaim what is hers.
“Wrath of the Titans”
Nearly a decade after defeating the Kraken, Perseus, played by Sam Worthington, is living a quieter life as a single parent to 10-year old son, Helius. When the Titans overpower Zeus, due to humanity’s lack of devotion to the gods, they siphon his powers and hell is unleashed on earth. Perseus is forced to enlist the help of Queen Andromeda, Poseidon’s demigod son Argenor, and fallen god Hephaestus and journey into the underworld to rescue Zeus and save mankind.
April 4
“Titanic” 3D
The classic tale of the maiden voyage of the R.M.S. Titanic, the pride and joy of White Star Line, will reenter Hollywood via 3D on March 30. Watch Leonardo Di Capprio and Kate Winslet fall in love as the most luxurious liner of 1912 carries over 1,500 people to their death in the icy North Atlantic waters.
April 6
“American Reunion”
“American Pie” stars Alyson Hannigan, Seann William Scott, Tara Reid, Jason Briggs and Mena Suvari will reunite in East Great Falls for their high-school reunion on April 6. The adults who once launched a comedy legend will reminisce about the past and discover what has changed. Jim and Michelle are married, but Kevin and Vicky said goodbye. Oz and Heather drifted apart, but Finch still yearns for Stifler’s mom. Relive what happened in the past and discover the future of these comedy legends in the “American Reunion.”
“The Cold Light of Day”
Will Shaw’s world gets turned upside down when his family is kidnapped by intelligence agents during a weeklong sailing vacation in Spain. The agents are attempting to recover a mysterious briefcase, but Will goes on the run to save them.

“Lockout”
Set in the near future, the film follows a falsely convicted ex- government agent, whose one chance at obtaining freedom lies in the dangerous mission of rescuing the President's daughter from rioting convicts at an outer space maximum security prison.
"The Lucky One”
After his third tour in Iraq, U.S. Marine Sergeant Logan Thibault, Zac Efron, returns with a photograph of a woman he doesn’t know: the photograph that kept him alive. After learning her name is Beth, Taylor Schilling, and where she lives, he finds himself at her door and working at her family’s local kennel. Eventually a romance develops between them, giving Logan hope Beth might be more than his lucky charm.

“The Avengers”
Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, Thor, Captain America, Hawkeye and Black Widow team up for one of the spring’s most awaited movies: “The Avengers.” When an unexpected enemy threatens global safety and security, the Director of the international peacekeeping agency, S.H.I.E.L.D needs a team to save the world and the avengers are up for the challenge. “Dark Shadows”
