Dance For the Cure: Annual Charity Ball
Put your dancing shoes on and join The Fashionistas of ASU on September 10 for the Dance for the Cure: Annual Charity Ball. Dance For the Cure will benefit the newly constructed Banner MD Anderson Cancer Center that is scheduled to open in late August. Guest speakers Christy Atler, Banner MD Anderson Campaign Manager, and cancer survivors will educate and inform the public about where we are with cancer today, treatments available and our hopes for a better tomorrow in finding a cure. A silent auction will take place during the event to help raise money for a great cause in hopes to eliminate cancer.

5th Annual Jason Schechterle Scholarship Ball
The Annual Jason Schechterle Scholarship Ball recognizes recipients of the 100 Club of Arizona Scholarship Program, presents an Officer and Firefighter Outstanding Performance Award, and honors the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award to Dr. William Leighton. Dr. Leighton has dedicated his career to the treatment and reconstruction of burn and accident victims, such as Jason Schechterle. The event is to benefit the 100 Club of Arizona, who stands behind the men and women who stand behind the badge, and the 100 Club of Arizona Scholarship Program, awarding scholarships to immediate family members of first responders. The event will take place on September 23, 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at The Arizona Grand Resort.

The Board of Visitors Care Card Shopping Days
The Board of Visitors has made contributions to the health care needs of the community for over 100 years, making it the oldest charitable organization in Arizona. Celebrating its 12th year in the fall of 2011, the Care Card is The Board of Visitors’ newest fundraiser. Starting Valley-wide on October 13-23, purchase a $50 Care Card and receive a 20 percent discount at participating retailers and restaurants. All of the Care Card sales will go to The Board of Visitors Ryan House, which opened in March of 2010. Ryan House offers respite care for children facing life-threatening illnesses. 9th Annual Hero Awards
The Friends of Animal Care & Control invites you to support the amazing animals within our community at the 9th Annual Hero Awards. Presented by PetSmart, this unique fundraising event was created to celebrate the accomplishments of local animal heroes. These heroes are animals that have survived hard times, accomplished an amazing heroic act or who have given tirelessly of themselves to assist or save the lives of their owners and/or complete strangers.
The Hero Awards features a delicious gourmet dinner, one of the Valley’s best silent and live auctions and a heartwarming medallion presentation to the evening’s animal Heroes. Tickets at $225 per person.

Heart Ball 2011
Join the American Heart Association on Saturday, November 19 for the 2011 Heart Ball. The mission of the 2011 Heart Ball is to raise funds and awareness to promote prevention of cardiovascular disease through education. The newly renovated Halle Heart Children’s Museum is the first and only interactive cardiovascular learning center, teaches 25,000 children per year how to make heart healthy choices about nutrition and exercise. The curriculum also saves lives by teaching children how to identify and respond to emergency warning signs of heart attack and stroke. Support the prevention of cardiovascular disease through education at this years Heart Ball, located at The Phoenician. Cocktails begin at 6:30 p.m. followed by dinner at 7:30 p.m.

Fashion SUNsation
The Sun Health Foundation’s A Fashion SUNsation…The Perfect Fit ties style and support of cardiac research together on Saturday, Nov. 5 at Wigwam Arizona. Guest attending can jazz up their wardrobes for a great cause while viewing a vintage collection of fashions and accessories from the 1920s-1970s and classic vintage western wear courtesy of Matilda’s Closet in Glendale. Not only do guests get to view great fashions and accessories but also can enjoy some shopping. Trunk show offerings will feature accessories and jewelry for all, with a percentage of sale proceeds supporting the goals of Healthy SUNsations. Tickets start at $50 per person.

The Board of Visitors 58th Annual Fashion Show and Luncheon
The Annual Fashion Show and Luncheon will be held at the Arizona Biltmore featuring holiday fashions, The Board of Visitors’ grandchildren and the 2012 Flower Girls. The fashion show will begin at noon followed by the 12:45 p.m. luncheon. Proceeds from the 2011 Luncheon benefit Desert Mission Community Health Center and Children’s Dental Clinic.
