Baby Shower Game Ideas

Baby showers are fun for both the expectant mother and all of her friends. Here is a list of five baby shower games to make the party a non-stop baby funfest.

What's In That Diaper?!

candy

It certainly looks like poo in a newborn diaper, but don't worry-it's just scrumptious chocolates. With this game, you take newborn diapers (you need as many diapers as you have types of chocolates, generally five) and put a piece of chocolate in the middle of the diaper. Then, microwave the diaper until the chocolate is warm and melted. Repeat this until all the types of chocolates have been melted in separate diapers. It's fun to use chocolates with different consistencies like a Hersey's Bar, Snickers, Baby Ruth, 100 Grand and Twix. Mark each diaper with A, B, C, D, etc. Then, taking the diapers around the room, each guest has to sniff and taste the diaper-at their own discretion-to guess what type of chocolate is in the diaper. The winner is the one who can courageously guess the most types of chocolate bars!

How Big Is Your Tummy?

One of the traditional games is to guess the size of the expectant mother. Using household items like yarn, string or toilet paper, guests pull the roll or yarn to the length at which they think will fit perfectly around the mom's tummy. The fun part is to see who guessed the closest! In most cases, the guests pull too much yarn or toilet paper, and it's way too big for the mom's tummy. This is always a baby shower favorite.

How Many Baby Items Can You Name?

babycrib

Given five minutes, do you think you could write down the most baby items? Sure, it sounds easy but after a minute or two, baby items become less familiar. All you need for this game is pens, pads of paper and a timer. Everyone writes down as many baby items that they can think of in five minutes-pacifiers, bottles, cribs, onesies, etc. The winner is the one with the most baby items listed.

Don't Say Baby, Baby.

baby-no

This fun game is played throughout the course of the shower. At the beginning of the shower, hand everyone beads to wear around their neck. Tell all party goers that the word "baby" should not be said during the course of the party. If someone slips up and says "baby," then whoever heard it first will go up to that individual and take their beads. The person who has the most beads around their neck by the end of the party wins! Just be careful; we don't want any injuries resulting to a mad-dash to take some beads.

What's In The Bag?

babybag

This fun guessing game will have your guests bursting with anticipation. Ten baby items and small paper bags are the only things you will need, besides pads of paper and pens for the guests to write down their guesses. Fill each bag with one item: Q-tips, stuffed bear, pacifier, etc. and label the bags one through ten. Hand out the bags randomly to guests and have them guess what they think is in the bag by the weight and feel of the item. The guest who can correctly name the most items -without looking in the bag-wins.
