April is Child Abuse Awareness Month, and Free Arts works with children all over the Valley who have experienced trauma, neglect or homelessness. They transform children's trauma to resilience through the arts. Free Arts programs are typically delivered by 800 volunteer mentors and artists who serve more than 6,000 children annually through partnerships with over 40 social service child welfare agencies at 100+ sites across Maricopa County. Throughout COVID, Free Arts has shifted programs online or offered small in-person activities with safety protocols in place.
If you're looking for a way to help foster care and homeless children during Child Abuse Awareness Month, Free Arts is in need of Bravey Bracelets. You can work on this new intentional art project from the comfort of your own home. It's a great activity for families. Each colored bead has a meaning and children can use their creativity to make a bracelet that allows them to express themselves. These Bravery Bracelets will be a component of the next round of Bravery Boxes, which will be given to children just entering foster care throughout Arizona.
