Even if the Univeristy of Arizona’s football team doesn’t win a single game in their season, the patriotisms and excitement makes it all worth while. On Saturday, August 29 The University of Arizona Alumni Association Phoenix Chapter will hold a kickoff party to celebrate the start of a new season. Guests can join Head Football Coach Mike Stoops and the rest of the Arizona Football staff for lunch at the Arizona Biltmore Resort & Spa in Phoenix. One week later fans can watch UA take on Central Michigan at their opening game. Don’t forget to dress like a Wildcat!


Arizona Jazz Dance Showcase – Breakthrough

With UA having one of the most highly regarded dance schools in the nation, fans must mark their calendars for their special performances, including the upcoming “Breakthrough” showcase going on Oct. 9 through 11. Master Teachers Ann Reinking and Joe Treamine will be in residence and it will be hosted by the UA School of Dance.

Guest curator Cat Marino, a Master of Arts student, will present “Earth and Sky” at the University of Arizona Union Gallery. Faculty from the UA and Aberystwyth University, Wales have created fine art printmaking for your viewing pleasure. This special exhibit including examples of lithography, etching, screenprinting and relief printing.

“This exhibition builds on firm foundations laid for an ongoing commitment to enhancing printmaking processes, printmaking artists and an opportunity for a cultural exchange.”

Artist and master printer Paul Croft will be visiting from Aberystwyth to participate in an artist talk and closing reception.


“Rum & Coke” – A Comedy About the Bay of Pigs

If you haven’t had the chance to experience the University of Arizona School of Theatre Arts' Arizona Repertory Theatre, now is your chance! On Sept. 2 through the 13, the theatre will put on Keith Reddin's “Rum & Coke,” directed by Brent Gibbs. Featuring such figures as Fidel Castro and Richard Nixon, “Rum & Coke” portras one of the most infamous political events of American history.

Olivier Award-winning choreographer Dein Perry has created a tap dancing masterpiece and this phenomena is headed to the UA on Sept. 26 as part of UA Presents. It has won 11 International Awards and has premiered at the Sydney Theatre Festival . Those of you in the front row, beware of some water splashing and, of course, loud dancing!
