Southern Arizona Student Film Festival celebrates the filmmakers of tomorrow in Tucson this spring.
There’s the Oscars, the Golden Globes, and a number of international film festivals to look forward to every year—but what about the ones created by the youth and young adults of our very communities, depicting drama, comedy, documentary and Western films through quality filmmaking? Welcome to visionaries of today, the motion picture leaders of tomorrow. Welcome to the Southern Arizona Student Film Festival (SASFF). The SASFF is the only student film festival in Arizona that recognizes its film heritage to the Western genre.
SASFF is set to premiere May 3 at the University of Arizona in the Gallagher Theatre and continue through the weekend at various other venues until Sunday, May 6. Bring together your friends and family to commemorate the myriad of young individuals who are taking their skills from the classroom and transforming them into motion picture magic before community audiences.
High school and college students are encouraged to join SASFF, highlighting their achievements behind the camera with short- and feature-length films (depending on category). So if you have a young YouTube star on your hands—or if you are a young artist yourself—who is eager to take it to the next level, don’t hesitate to submit your films for this year’s festival. Submissions are $15 until Feb. 16, $25 until March 17, and $35 until April 1. For students and adults who prefer a behind-the-scenes role, opt to volunteer—or even sponsor—a student as SASFF seeks to reach thousands of students across the state.
