Hot artist Devin Star Tailes, known by fans as Dev, is coming to the Valley this Friday, January 17 at 9 p.m. at the Maya Day and Night Club. \u00a0Dev is an American rapper, singer and songwriter with an electropop and dance sound. \u00a0Dev was discovered by the Cataracts who found her videos she posted on Myspace. \u00a0Since then, Dev has recorded singles with the likes of Timbaland, Afrojack and Enrique Iglesias. \u00a0Dev has had several hits such as “Like a G6” and “Bass Down Low”, with millions of views on YouTube. \u00a0Dev is only going to become more popular, so don’t miss out on the chance to see her perform at the Maya Day and Night Club. \u00a0This raging night is simply a must do!<\/p>\n

Interview With Dev:<\/strong><\/p>\n

AFM-What made you decide to go by Dev instead of your full name, Devin Star Tailes?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Dev- When I first started working with the Cataracts, my myspace said Dev. \u00a0They just started calling me Dev!<\/p>\n

AFM-<\/strong>What inspired you to get into the music business?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Dev-\u00a0I always studied music in school growing up. I was in band and choir…But I think when I met the Cataracts was when I became inspired enough to pursue it professionally.<\/p>\n

AFM-<\/strong>Have you always wanted to perform?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Dev-\u00a0Oh yeah, definitely. Performing is what I’ve always wanted to do. \u00a0I love it, and I’ve always loved it ever since I was a kid.<\/p>\n

AFM-<\/strong>Are you looking forward to your upcoming concert?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Dev-\u00a0Of course. \u00a0I feel like it’s been too long since I’ve been back.\u00a0 I love Arizona! \u00a0My sister’s fiance actually lives there.<\/p>\n

AFM-Do you get to write your own songs?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Dev-\u00a0I write my songs. Somtimes I like working with other writers. \u00a0The vibe of bringing an outside story into the picture just helps me to broaden my horizons.<\/p>\n

AFM-Out of all your hit songs, what was your favorite song to produce and why?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Dev- I really liked “Shadows” that was on my album “The Night the Sun Came Up.” \u00a0I liked the emotions behind it and the intensity of it a lot. \u00a0I loved “In the Dark”, and I loved performing “In the Dark”. \u00a0It was really fun for me. I don’t know. \u00a0That’s a little hard! I have an emotional attachment to all the records that I make, even if they’re silly or lighthearted, I still have a connection with that song!<\/p>\n

AFM-What\u2019s it like working with artists like Timbaland, Afrojack, and Enrique Iglesies?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Dev-\u00a0Um, it was amazing! I always get kind of nervous going in and working with other artists that are really well known… just being vulnerable with them in the studio and kind of let your guard down. \u00a0But, everyone that I’ve worked with I can say I took a piece of something from them with me and learned something from them.<\/p>\n

AFM-For those who aren\u2019t familiar with your music, how would you describe it?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Dev-\u00a0Fun and sassy and feisty. Also vulnerable… \u00a0I definitely like to keep the balance between sweet and fiesty.<\/p>\n

AFM-Which song on your EP \u201cBittersweet July\u201d are you most excited to share with fans and why?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Dev-\u00a0I have a new record out on iTunes right now called “Kiss It” that I really love, which is super sassy and fun. \u00a0There is another record I have called “Feel It”, which I think showcases a little more of me.. I like them all for different reasons. \u00a0Some are really bitchy and some are pretty! I ‘m excited for them to hear everything.<\/p>\n

AFM-What\u2019s your plan for the future?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Dev-\u00a0I have a lot. \u00a0I think, just continuing to grow as a performer, a writer and a singer. \u00a0I always want to stay true to who I am. \u00a0A grammy nomination would be cool in the future as well. \u00a0And touring! \u00a0I want to tour my ass off! \u00a0I want to bring music that people can relate and enjoy to. \u00a0I would like to leep writing and singing for all that I can.<\/p>\n

AFM-What do you have to say to your Arizona fans?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Dev-\u00a0I would like to tell them thank you for all the support. And that I love Arizona and can’t wait to see everyone out there!<\/p>\n
