Last year, through his sixth artist album, electronic music legend Paul van Dyk changed up perceptions of the PvD sound, wholesale. Over the course of 2012, \u2018EVOLUTION\u2019s multiverse tracklist spawned five single sales-chart smashes, an epic, globe\u2010circling 150+ date tour, sustained fan & press veneration and an ever\u2010widening stylistic scope of DJ support.<\/p>\n

Now that \u2018the originals\u2019 have been established, the time has come to let the remixers speak as Paul\u2019s evolution becomes an out\u2010and\u2010out revolution! Handpicked by the man himself \u2010 from the ready\u2010to\u2010break to the firmly established \u2010 the remix gathering has assembled. Let the reworks begin!<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cNaturally, the original versions of EVOLUTION\u2019s tracks were mine and and my co-producers visions. The singles to date have brought some wonderful, creative remixes with them. Ones that blew me away when I heard them and which I played in-club and on the radio throughout last year. They were the seed points for this album; now is the right time to push the boundaries of \u2018EVOLUTION\u2019 that bit further\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Comprising 17 fresh\u2010off\u2010the\u2010desk reworks from a full company of van Dyk\u2019s fellow production studionauts, this is where evolution ends and full\u2010scale revolution breaks out. Sowing the uprising\u2019s first seeds is the production brotherhood of Woody van Eyden and Alex M.O.R.P.H., who are respectively tasked with retakes of \u2018Sun After Heartbreak\u2019 and \u2018Such A Feeling\u2019 (aka \u2018Verano\u2019). Drawing on a wealth of nirvana harmonics, thermal synths and Sue McLaren\u2019s and Elijah King\u2019s vocal talents, they reposition PvD\u2019s original versions in an entirely new light\u2026 and time of the night.<\/p>\n

Opening the tempo & tone throttle that little bit wider, musical mutineers Kyau & Albert, Maarten De Jong and John O\u2019Callaghan zoom\u2010in on additional peak\u2010time aspects. Their radical interpretations of \u2018Open My Eyes\u2019, \u2018Symmetries\u2019 and \u2018I Don\u2019t Deserve You\u2019 levy drums, percussion and distortion that are altogether more flooratomic in nature.<\/p>\n

The popularity and musical latitude of \u2018I Don\u2019t Deserve You\u2019 emphasize this Plumb\u2010vocalled peach with two further reconfigurations. Having already been voted one of the 15 biggest trancers of the year on Armin van Buuren\u2019s ASOT radio show, \u2018Deserve\u2019 gets some house flavour into her system. Dubbing up the vocal, Gabriel Ben lets the hats hiss, the percs ride and the rhythms flow on his mix. Meanwhile, another American producer WAWA rolls one big piano moment in after another, inciting ravenous uplift and fanning \u2018(R)Evolution\u2019s flames even further.<\/p>\n

Taking things momentarily deeper and more\u2010subversively progressive, the Directors Cut mix seizes on \u2018Love Ammunition\u2019s lyrical metaphor. Michelle Leonard\u2019s vocals scorch the room, underpinning a potent groove and sure\u2010shot drop. The album stays with her redolent tones as Giuseppe Ottaviani takes control of \u2018Lost In Berlin\u2019, building it up into a mainline titan.<\/p>\n

With PvD\u2019s full backing, other remix\u2010revolutionaries are given free reign to take the music where they see fit. Pedro del Mar & Double V rock up a storm on the Sue McLaren\u2010vocalled and Arty\u2010coproduced \u2018The Sun After The Heartbreak\u2019.<\/p>\n

Elsewhere, youngblood Uzbek producer Exense masterminds the \u2018Rock This\u2019 rebuild. He tactically whips it into a powder\u2010keg progressive piece, holding back the pitch\u2010bending synths and rousing a titular shout to the break\u2019s final precipice. Elsewhere, audio guerrillas like Niels von Ahorn, Robert Mint, Nick Callaghan & Will Atkinson and others perform coup after coup with eclectic, thrilling reworks that build into the consummate \u2018EVOLUTION\u2019 revision.<\/p>\n

The \u2018(R)evolution\u2019 commences Feb 22nd 2013.<\/p>\n
