Following the release of heavyweight new single <\/span>\u201cVindicate\u201d featuring <\/span>Excision, <\/span>DATSIK<\/span> has released the <\/span>first edition of the <\/span>two-part COLD BLOODED<\/span> EP on <\/span>Firepower Records today, <\/span>Tuesday, January 22. The new <\/span>seven-track EP\u2014streaming now on <\/span>Billboard.com<\/span><\/span>\u00a0at http:\/\/www.billboard.com\/new-releases\/datsik-cold-blooded-premiere-and-track-by-1008106992.story#\/new-releases\/datsik-cold-blooded-premiere-and-track-by-1008106992.story<\/a>\u2013acts as the perfect soundtrack to <\/span>DATSIK\u2019s mammoth <\/span>\u2018Firepower Reloaded\u2019 tour which moves across <\/span>North America throughout the month.\u00a0 Part two of the <\/span>COLD BLOODED<\/span> EP will be released later this spring.<\/span><\/p>\n

Leading DATSIK\u2019s first body of work since the release of his debut album Vitamin D<\/span>, the title track doesn\u2019t waste any time in dealing the first lethal blows. Led in by its shuffling percussion and dub skank, it dives head first into barrage of gnarled drums and rapid-fire bass. Up next, DATSIK\u2019s brutal production collides with rapper Messinian\u2019s raw lyrics on the industrially reinforced \u201cAutomatik,\u201d a pummeling exercise in low-end mechanics. The heat continues with \u201cMachete\u201d as DATSIK this time teams up with MCs Snak The Ripper and Young Sin to deliver a powerful assault of growling bass and roaring synths balanced by the swirling pads and 8-bit arpeggios.<\/p>\n

\u201cJuicebox\u201d introduces a more playful element to the EP with its hyperactive bounce, energetic melodies and scratch samples before \u201cToo Late To Say No\u201d\u2019s expansive synths pave the way for an overdriven bass onslaught. Falling into line next is single \u201cVindicate\u201d with its ferocious web of twisted beats and morphing, intertwined bass lines. The lurching juggernaut \u201cRelease Me\u201d complete the package, destroying anything left in its path.<\/p>\n

With a string of Beatport #1\u2019s, sell-out tours, and a rapidly growing fan base, the Canadian producer\/DJ and label boss has entered the New Year on an exceptionally high note, and with the release of COLD BLOODED<\/span> he\u2019s already making his claim to an even bigger 2013.<\/p>\n
