April, 2011, NYC:\u00a0 At the New York International Auto Show Mercedes Benz launched the 2011 SLS AMG as a custom version, souped up with vintage baby blue and burnt orange gulf racing style.\u00a0 Phoenix Arizona customers should find this vehicle intriguing as it picks up on both the vintage Euro and vintage muscle car trends that have been sweeping the Phoenix Valley area in recent years.<\/p>\n

The Mercedes Benz SLS AMG is a luxury grand touring automobile developed by Mercedes-AMG to replace the Mercedes Benz SLR McLaren.\u00a0 The car is the first Mercedes automobile designed in-house by AMG and is described by Mercedes=Benz as a spiritual successor to the Mercedes Benz 300sl Gull-wing, despite a design that visually draws more of its inspiration from the 300 SLR Uhlenhaut Coupe.<\/p>\n

The design is an interesting mixture of old and new, vintage and modern.\u00a0 The exterior is that of a callback aluminum body with gull wing doors.\u00a0 The cabin is that of a tiny two seater, space minimized so that performance is maximized.\u00a0 The cabin looks out over a long hood, almost cartoonishly exaggerated in length so as to emphasize to the onlooker and driver that this car means business in the area of speed.<\/p>\n

Under the hood we find an AMG 6.3 liter, front-mid V8 engine with a top power of 563 hp\/479 ib ft of torque, dry sump lubrication, seven speed dual clutch in a trans-axle configuration, and a sports chassis with aluminum double wishbone suspension.\u00a0 All of this put together brings the vehicle out at a curb weight of 3,573 ib.<\/p>\n
