To mark the occasion, Toyota will produce just 4,040 special editions, based on the base model SR5. This limited production model will be offered in black, white or red paint, with tri-colored graphics running along the body and on the grille. Striking 17\u201d bronze wheels, with the same color continuing into the interior via bronze stitching on the leatherette seats and shift knob are also part of this special package. Additional call-outs to a successful 40 year run can be found on the front headrests, floor mats and a few interior badges strewn about the cabin.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Next to this exciting 40th Anniversary model, other new additions for 2023 are standard blind-spot monitors and rear cross traffic alert. Two incredibly useful safety features that can now be enjoyed by all. As is customary, an exciting new color joins the TRD Pro line-up. This year, Toyota mixed up a bright orange that just might be visible from space, and called it Solar Octane. Not for everyone, but we personally love it. For everyone else, the 2023 Toyota 4Runner continues to excel in the off-roading realm, but remains seriously past-due for an update for everything else. It continues to drive like a big truck, without the same level of refinement other SUV\u2019s are offering in abundance these days. The cabin quality feels dated and sub-standard. The 5-speed powertrain is a few gears behind the curve, and an average fuel rating of 17 mpg is becoming very hard to explain in 2023.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After 40 years of test and trial, the Toyota 4Runner has proven itself to be amongst the most capable multi-terrain vehicles out there. As a recreation vehicle, whose primary use will be to explore the road less traveled, few can compete. If you need something more well-rounded and better suited for every day use though, the few extra standard safety features are at least a start.
