The 2021 Cadillac XT5 casts a wide net, in hopes of appealing to as many as possible. A few additions to the standard feature list will help contribute to the cause. Among them are: Apple CarPlay, Amazon Alexa and Android Auto functionality, an upgraded digital display in the gauge cluster, with improved picture quality from the exterior cameras. In addition, their are more advanced driver-assistance features like night vision, better automatic parking assist and rear pedestrian alert. Outside of this, much of the general look and feel remains the same, as the 2021 XT5 continues as part of the first generation of this model, introduced back in 2017.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Obvious strengths continue into the new year. A bold, handsome exterior design continues to turn heads, even years after its debut. There remains plenty of cargo space and legroom in the back. The interior is generally well appointed, but ultimately a step or two behind many rivals in both material quality and tech. In other areas, the Cadillac XT5 finds itself a little disadvantaged. A low-energy 2.0L turbo four-cylinder engine lacks the athleticism and enthusiasm of many mid-sized SUV rivals at this price point. The same could be said of the chassis, delivering a ride quality that could be best described as \u201cjust so-so.\u201d Getting especially rough when road surfaces become weathered and worn. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Though the 2021 Cadillac XT5 has its sights set on excelling in the luxury SUV market, it continues to lack in some key areas. Important categories that ultimately prevent it from going toe-to-toe with masters of the SUV craft, like the Volvo XC60 or BMW X3. A comfortable, spacious cabin with sub-par quality and refinement may only win over shoppers who haven\u2019t really done their homework. While an upgraded V6 engine option is available, along with a plethora of other add-on\u2019s to elevate the final product, they\u2019ll quickly push the price into Porsche Macan territory. At which point, wouldn\u2019t you just buy that?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
