From Phoenix Arizona all the way Tacoma, Philadelphia, Atlanta, and LA, the role of the automobile in the urban center is undergoing a revolution.\u00a0 Some, like LimeWire founder Mark Gorton(also a bicycling advocate), argue that cars have become logically obsolete in the modern American city, and that they do more harm than good.\u00a0 While\u00a0we here at Vroom\u00a0share Mark Gorton\u2019s passion for urban bicycling and eco friendly urban centers, we also are fans of not throwing the baby out with the bathwater\u2026and cars, we are fans of cars.\u00a0 We know that we don\u2019t need to rid our\u00a0cities of the motorized menace, but rather we need to design better vehicles which more appropriately operate within their intended habitat.<\/p>\n

There is\u00a0a concept in the world of technology and innovation known as the \u201cSwiss Army Knife\u201d effect.\u00a0 This is when one thing becomes many.\u00a0 A smart phone is the best example of this concept put into production.\u00a0 The automotive world has operated largely according to this principle as well, that being that versatility is king.\u00a0 BUT, what any informed student of technological innovation will tell you, is that outside of the world of smart phones and some other hand held devices,\u00a0all innovation\u00a0tends towards specialization.\u00a0 This is the natural path which humanity takes when it seeks to fulfill a specific need.\u00a0 As all other industries have long understood this principle, it has long been lost on the automotive world, but with a wealth of urban intended vehicles coming from the major design houses of the US, Germany, and Japan, as well as others, we are seeing\u00a0a shift in the automotive industry.<\/p>\n
