So it’s about this time every year when there’s a slump in red carpet momemts, The MTV Movie awards don\u2019t really count\u2026except for the fact that Sandra Bullock looked absolutely smashing in her sequin mini. Maybe there’s a little let down for me that once the mercury heats up it feels like summer event dressing in AZ is more about dodging a melt down rather than really pulling out the stops.<\/p>\n

Thank goodness for the CFDA awards, it’s a little summer pick me up. Every year The Council of Fashion Designers of America honors the top names in the fashion industry. Awards come in a variety of categories from The Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award to Womenswear Designers of the Year, Accessory Designer of the year and so on. The evening is always star studded with familiar fashion -world faces and serious gala glitz. And who doesn\u2019t love that? Though it\u2019s not exactly the Met Costume Ball it\u2019s a very close front -runner for fabulous frock sightings and killer red carpet moments.<\/p>\n

Award winners from the June 7 event included Michael Kors: Geofrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award. Marc Jacobs took home his ninth (yes ninth) Womenswear Designer of the Year Statue while Alexis Bittar claimed the Accessory Designer of the Year award. The fabulous Jason Wu won the Swarovski Award for Womenswear and Alexander Wang snagged the Swarovski for Accessory Design. Fav fashion and lifestyle guru Ralph Lauren took home the CFDA\u2019s popular vote. Little statues also went to: Richard Chai for the Swarovski menswear award and Iman took home the Fashion Icon award, while Sara Jessica parker presented the Special Tribute Award to her friend the late Alexander McQueen.<\/p>\n

So now that you know the winners circle, let\u2019s move on to some of my favorite looks of the evening.<\/p>\n

The Olsen sisters and pal model Sasha Pivovarova all donned The Row and Ashley added her own little spark of Van Cleef and Arpel jewels. Baggy and boxy but still so O!<\/p>\n

Jessica Biel looked cool and collected in a uncharacteristic giraffe print Diane Von Furstenberg dress and Oscar de la Renta pre-fall shoes.<\/p>\n

Gwyneth Paltrow looked incredibly stunning in her Michael Kors beaded gown. While Sarah Jessica looked a vision in her floral flowing Alexander McQueen gown.<\/p>\n

Iman pretty much showed how it\u2019s done in her Giambattista Valli gown shown here with hubby David Bowie.<\/p>\n

I also loved Hana Soukupovas Marchesa dress and Christian Louboutin heels.

And I have to give kudos to Dree Hemingway for the white pantsuit. It was a daring choice but fresh and funky.<\/p>\n
