Veils?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As mentioned in yesterday&#8217;s blog, I have been reacquainting myself with wedding makeup over the last couple of years after a long stint of no weddings for many, many years and since my own nuptials thirteen years ago things have certainly changed.<\/p>\n<p>The thought of seeing the groom pre- ceremony and snapping loads of bridal party pictures was not really even an option, for me part of the excitement was seeing each other for the first time as you walk past the guest filled rows and down the aisle to join together\u2026 and honestly I wouldn\u2019t have had it any other way.<\/p>\n<p>I got married around the time when the sheath wedding dress was making a comeback thanks to Caroline Bessette-Kennedy.  I remember shopping just months prior and finding that every dress made me look rather the cream puff\u2026ultimately I had my dress custom made.  But the one thing I did do which is completely on point now is let all my \u201cmaids\u201d pick their own style of dress.  Actually each girl wore the same floor length skirt and designed their own tops that would flatter their figure. This helps to give a sense of simpatico but lets each bridesmaid have their own individual style.  Multicolored dresses and different fabrics tend to draw nothing but confusion in the eyes of wedding goers.  Remember Carrie\u2019s Sex and The City bridal party\u2026red, black and blue? The truth is, it\u2019s your day and if you don\u2019t want a veil then skip it!  Instead try wearing a gorgeous jeweled pin or comb in your hair.  Most bridal salons can custom make a hair accessory for you.  It used to be a no-no to wear hair down, but in the last few years I find that many brides are more comfortable and feel safer with hair around their face, just be sure that it doesn\u2019t overwhelm you and cover you up.  Pulling the hair back on the sides is always a great option.
