Well Fashion Week has wrapped and it\u2019s left me as always in a fashion sort of funk\u2026. The same downer that you feel taking down the Christmas tree-presents have been opened, left overs are gone and decorations packed away\u2026now what? Now we have to wait until Spring to actually buy the things we love. Just ten mere days ago bloggers and mags like Womens Wear Daily were hyping the week with a doom and gloom make it or break it over tone. Planting seeds in the consumer psyche that if not for a good show then buyer beware no doubt Chapter 11 and boarding up windows at the Ready To Wear next door is on the way. Well nay sayers be gone it\u2019s business as usual in NYC. The champagne flowed and the front rows were studded with celebs from Madonna to Sienna, Mick to Jack<\/p>\n

One very positive advent of a downturn -creativity begets creativity and there was plenty of outside the box, triangle and circle during this past week\u2026 Roadarte though generally brilliant threw guests for a loop with their Beyond Thunderdome-esque esthetic. Though I can\u2019t say that I can see these pieces at a PTA meeting near you, I can say that once you cut through the special effects there is a depth of design that this sister duo never lacks of.<\/p>\n

In yet another touch of Mad Max moment at Phi, Andreas Melbostad carved out memorable visions in black, white and tan. It was a meticulously deconstructed then reconstructed dream collection for the girl who takes no fashion prisoners. These are pieces that wreak of confidence in a way that some other collections try to imitate but never quite pull off. <\/p>\n

On another kind of creativity note\u2026Issaac is back\u2026.back to his showmanship that is. Strangely this season everyone is mentioning his 90\u2019s era cinema moment Unzipped. For us old schoolers Isaac tore down the backstage curtain before reality tv flooded our landscape to such as dizzying extent. This season the Miz went a bit of fifties flare mixed with post war touches and even some unexpected fraying to boot. The result is classic Hollywood musical. I don\u2019t see how one could wear these pieces and not feel that they were floating on air. Gene Kelly we need you!<\/p>\n

Two particularly gorgeous collections to get your fashion lust in gear L\u2019Wren Scott and Calvin Klein. Scotts super sexy sheaths are to die for in shades of black, white and crimson\u2026don\u2019t miss them. And what else is there to say about Francisco Costa at CK\u2026 minimalism at it\u2019s best, soft, sensuous and blatantly sexy!
