Not long ago my little cousin was wandering around singing the words\u00a0to Wham\u2019s song Jitterbug in a two-part harmony.\u00a0 <\/span>She had heard the\u00a0tune in a soft drink commercial and had no idea as to who they were.\u00a0\u00a0Thank goodness for You Tube and I Tunes otherwise how on earth would\u00a0we educate our young?\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>She of course marveled at the neon\u00a0splattered t-shirts, rolled up jeans and shall I even go there -sideways ball caps.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>I somehow even horrified myself by giving her an I \u2013have-turned-into-my-mother- monologue droning on about how when I was\u00a0eighteen we wore all those trends and how I am positive that Serena\u00a0Van der Woodson stylist probably got all the fab ideas from an older and\u00a0trendier sibling.\u00a0 <\/span>Cheeky as it was, at least she now has a new\u00a0appreciation for Neon.\"neon-tops1\"
\n<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

This season of course there is no shortage of blinding color flashes\u00a0thanks to our re-living -their \u2013own- midlife moment- designers like\u00a0Michael Kors, and Dolce & Gabbana.\u00a0 <\/span>I say all hail to the 80\u2019s but thank your\u00a0lucky stars that the looks have grown up and, hopefully, no one\u00a0other than a teen TV queen or Rhianna will actually wear hot pink\u00a0ankle socks with acid green pumps\u2026 even more dreadful I pray that I\u00a0won\u2019t see any form of acid bright oversize earring like the ones I\u00a0sported in the family photos that haunt me in my mother\u2019s living room.\u00a0Remember when photos from the 50\u2019s, 60\u2019s and 70\u2019s would fade and\u00a0yellow only to end their journey ripped from the original frame and stuffed into an old shoebox?\u00a0 <\/span>Clearly Kodak had worked out that issue by the 80\u2019s much to my dismay!<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

So if you are thinking of sporting this trend there are a few \u201ccaution\u201d\u00a0signs in the road to any fashion acid trip.<\/span><\/p>\n

Limit yourself to one large neon-acid bright item or two smaller\u00a0items per outfit i.e.: dress only or handbag and shoe only.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Most of these popsicle \u2013on- steroids shades work well with black, but\u00a0buyer beware don\u2019t try to mix and match bright shades, you don\u2019t want\u00a0the clothes you are wearing to wear you, and worse you don\u2019t want to be the Wham\u00a0revival poster child.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

These pumped up colors make a plentiful fashion statement all on\u00a0their own, so the rest of your ensemble must be understated\u2026\u00a0 <\/span>I.e.: hot\u00a0pink dress and nude accessories on Blake Lively \u2013 that is the way to\u00a0do color my darling.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n


\n<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

As for your makeup and nails, a little goes a long way so pink or\u00a0bold red only on the lips or nails will cover you, or go for a very\u00a0soft pastel palette.\u00a0 <\/span>Smokey eyes always work but keep the rest of\u00a0the face nude or neutral.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
