<\/p>\nThe Paris Fall 2009 Haute Couture shows began yesterday and though I wish I could’ve been there, I am glad I was born in an era where I can still see everything as if I was.<\/p>\n
I always keep up with John Galliano for Christian Dior designs. They tend to be whimsical and fantastically over-the-top and full of the type of fantasy I wish we could inject into our everyday life.<\/p>\n
Yesteryday’s Christian Dior Fall 2009 Haute Couture show was no different. Though a bit more subdued as Galliano chose to go back to basics, it was nice to see much more wearable pieces than usual. Corsets and full skirts, ball gowns, tailored jackets and enormous hats that I dare say, perhaps only the Parisians could pull off, graced the floor. The looks came in cheery non-fall-like colors like fuchsia, red, yellow and orange and were absolutely captivating.<\/p>\n
Interestingly, Galliano chose to send out his models only semi-dressed, allowing the focus to fall on the construction of his pieces, though it’s impossible not to notice the handmade underpinnings that accompanied the looks. Stockings, garter belts, slips, bras and girdles were paired with tailored jackets, ballgowns and sheer dresses.<\/p>\n
Perhaps due to the economy, or in efforts to create more of an intimate experience, Galliano chose to show his collection in the salon of Dior’s Avenue Montaigne headquarters.<\/p>\n
I heart pretty much all of \u00a0these looks…enjoy!<\/p>\n

It seems everyone these days is channeling Lady Gaga’s penchant to run around town pantless, but I can see how the jacket is a strong enough piece for it to be admired on its own. The embellishments and bright, cheery color remind me nothing of fall, but I love how feminine it is.<\/p>\n

Barbie pink skirt! It looks like cotton candy, though my eyes are set on that corset, love it.<\/p>\n
Not because I’m particularly crazy about it, just wanted to showcase the craftsmanship of the gown<\/p>\n This very much reminds me of a gown my Barbie would wear.<\/p>\n I kinda like, need this. Totally need it.<\/p>\n Ending with a fantastical frock suitable for a Princess, Barbie or a wedding for that matter.
