British designer Paul Smith<\/a> has teamed up with the Italian design team Gufram<\/a> to create a colorful Sunrise Cactus<\/a> coat stand. The duo paid tribute to the original iconic piece when they first collaborated to create the Psychedelic Cactus<\/a> in 2016.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This new, limited-edition piece is now on view at Paul Smith\u2019s Melrose shop<\/a> in Los Angeles. It was named the Sunrise Cactus because of the pastel ombre design that replicates the first light of the day. The design also takes inspiration from Smith\u2019s optimistic saying, \u201cEvery day is a new beginning.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Gufram Cactus, first dreamed up in 1972 by designers Guido Drocco and Franco Mello, has made its way into museums and homes all over the world. Its purpose is simply to embody a spirit of playfulness and to subtly alter its surroundings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gufram is an interior design Italian brand globally known for pushing the limits of industrial design. With its Radical Design spirit and its experimental nature, Gufram has created iconic interior design pieces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSince the beginning, Gufram has been a playground for creatives to create amazing things and free their imagination,\u201d says Charley Vezza, CEO of Italian Radical Design, a group that includes Gufram. \u201cI would say that, in the world of Italian design and furniture, we definitely have a nonconformist approach. We always look at what [others] do and try to do the opposite.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Paul Smith is one of Britain\u2019s leading independent designers. Smith\u2019s saying that \u201cYou can find inspiration in everything,\u201d remains the guiding principle of the company. The designs are eclectic, with references drawn from art, music and everyday life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new Sunrise Cactus brings the outside into your home as a symbol of optimism and hopefulness with the same spirit as Paul\u2019s quote. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
