Coach introduces the Coach x Jean-Michel Basquiat collection with a global campaign starring faces of the house Jennifer Lopez, Michael B. Jordan, Jeremy Lin and Yang Zi, as well as beauty entrepreneur and Basquiat\u2019s niece, Jessica Kelly, and other members of the extended Coach family. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The collection, which debuted on the runway last February as part of Coach\u2019s Fall 2020 collection, introduces Basquiat\u2019s artwork and values to a new generation through the lens of family, those we\u2019re born into and those we choose.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The campaign was created in collaboration with photographer Micaiah Carter and a global collective of creatives including Paloma Elsesser, Jon Batiste, Kyemah McEntyre, Diana Gordon, and photographers Fan Xin and Zhang Meng. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It tells the story of creative families united by shared beliefs and purpose to spotlight Basquiat\u2019s vision of bold expression, activism through art, and his desire, as he once said, to \u201cbe part of\u00a0the\u00a0family of artists.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBasquiat is one of my heroes,\u201d said Coach Creative Director Stuart Vevers. \u201cHe embodied the creative, inclusive spirit of New York and was a force for change in his community. I am proud to celebrate his work and values and help bring them to a new generation. I\u2019m also incredibly grateful for the support and trust given to me by Basquiat\u2019s family, and would like to thank them for their help in creating this collection and campaign.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe really love this collection from Coach,\u201d said Jeanine Basquiat, sister of Basquiat, on behalf of the artist\u2019s family. \u201cThey did a great job in capturing the spirit and energy of Jean-Michel\u2019s work and putting together a perfect group of creative talent to bring this to life. We\u2019ve always been fans of Coach, so this is a dream project for us.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

To celebrate the campaign, Coach introduced a series of short social-first films in which the cast discuss the importance of family, art and Basquiat\u2019s legacy, inviting community members to join the conversation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
