According to a 2015 study by Nielsen<\/a>, a whopping 73% of\nmillennials are willing to pay more for sustainable goods and services.\nFollowed close behind by 72% of Gen Z consumers and even 51% of baby boomers.\nSo is sustainability the new norm? And will all eco-friendly products cost more\nthan their unfriendly counterparts? Not quite. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Enter lab-grown diamonds. Unlike other ethical\nand eco-friendly products, man-made diamonds are one of very few sustainable\nproducts that actual cost less than their mined equivalent. In fact, you can\nget a lab-grown diamonds for 20-40% less than a \u201ctraditional\u201d diamond from\ndirect to consumer brands such as Clean Origin<\/a>. So what exactly are these\ndiamonds? Where do they come from? And why are they making such a splash on the\nmarket, particularly with millennials?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What Is A\nLab-Grown Diamond?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

A lab-grown diamond<\/a>, also known as man-made or\nabove-ground, has a pretty simple definition: it\u2019s a diamond. In all intents\nand purposes, a lab-grown diamond is the same as a mined diamond. Take a look\nat its chemical, physical and optical characteristics and you will see no\ndifference. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Where Do\nThey Come From?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Science is pretty cool and can also be pretty\nhot…800 degrees celsius in fact. That\u2019s the temperature it takes to create a\nlab-grown diamond using the High Pressure-High Temperature method. The other\nmethod \u2014 Chemical Vapor Deposition \u2014 takes 1500. We won\u2019t bore you with the\nexact details of these processes, but we will break it down to this. Just as\nthey\u2019re created under the earth, it takes extremely high heat and pressure to\ncreate a lab-grown diamond above the ground. And, in the end, the result is a\ndiamond that must go through the same certifications and grading as mined\nstones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Why Are\nThey Popular With Millennials?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Let\u2019s be honest. What woman doesn\u2019t love\ndiamonds? <\/p>\n\n\n\n
