{"id":2238,"date":"2009-04-14T07:53:50","date_gmt":"2009-04-14T14:53:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.arizonafoothillsmagazine.com\/afm-style-files\/?p=2238"},"modified":"2009-05-20T10:16:26","modified_gmt":"2009-05-20T17:16:26","slug":"what-to-wear-to-nascar","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.arizonafoothillsmagazine.com\/afm-style-files\/scottsdale-fashion-how-tos\/what-to-wear-to-nascar","title":{"rendered":"What to Wear to NASCAR"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>If you\u2019ve read any of my \u201cwhat to wear\u201d posts before I\u2019ll let you in on a little secret: most are written from a combination of the facts that I\u2019ve likely A. been before and am drawing upon B. my knowledge in fashion combined with common sense.<\/p>\n<p>This &#8220;what to wear&#8221; post, however, is partly drawn from a less-than-likely source because, well, I\u2019ve never been to a NASCAR event. But this Saturday, April 18th is the Subway Fresh Fit 500 at Phoenix International Raceway and if any of you are going that haven\u2019t been before, well, then you must know what to wear!<\/p>\n<p>As it so happens, my boyfriend is a total\u00a0NASCAR nut.\u00a0So with a little probing of the conditions of races and some online shopping, I\u2019m telling you yet again that yes, you can be stylish and not over-the-top at any event.<\/p>\n<p>So what\u2019s to expect at a NASCAR event? All day out in the sun. And noise. And likely sitting in grandstands.<\/p>\n<p>So please, ladies by any means, just remember:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Don\u2019t wear stilettos.<\/strong> It\u2019s just plain impractical and ridiculous looking. There\u2019s tons of walking to be done and you\u2019d have to be in them all day. Instead, try a nice sandal, flip flops and again, if you must, go for a stylish wedge.<\/p>\n<p><strong>No dresses.<\/strong> I usually wouldn\u2019t advise this. If you\u2019ve read anything I\u2019ve ever posted, in fact, I suggest a dress for almost any occasion. I mean, go ahead and wear a cute day dress at your own risk. But as I envision walking up grandstands and people walking down below that can peer up I\u2019m thinking\u2026.yah\u2026not the wisest decision. The same goes for skirts. I just wouldn\u2019t do it.<\/p>\n<p><strong>It\u2019s hot.<\/strong> If you don\u2019t want to burn go for something lightweight that will cover you. If you\u2019re thinking denim shorts there\u2019s tons of cute cutoffs this season just remember, it\u2019s a bleacher situation! So take a towel unless you want those oh-so-unaesthetically-pleasing bleacher lines all over the back of your legs. Yeah, you don\u2019t want to be <em>that<\/em> girl.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sunglasses, sunglasses, sunglasses.<\/strong> Go ahead and show some style with some super cute shades!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Be a denim diva.<\/strong> Jeans and a tank or a cute T-shirt is a definite win in this type of situation and speaking of T-shirts\u2026<\/p>\n<p>An absolute big no-no (which again, I can\u2019t take credit for this) is wearing the only racing shirt you have in your closet. I.e. that one you got from some race 10 years ago which has nothing to do with present day drivers, sponsors and sometimes even tracks.<\/p>\n<p>Got it girls? Here&#8217;s a couple of looks.
