When Christian Louboutin first entered the beauty world debuting a line of insanely chic nail polish<\/a>, we ardently hoped he wouldn\u2019t stop there.<\/p>\n

Our wish was granted: the French footwear designer has revealed a beautifully crafted lipstick line of 36 shades that run the color gamut from his signature red Rouge Louboutin to dark berry and plum.<\/p>\n

Broken down into three collections or textures \u2013 Sily Satin, Velvete Matte and Sheer Voile \u2013 each and every shade is inspired by Louboutin\u2019s iconic shoes and handbags.<\/p>\n

For Louboutin, everything comes full circle:<\/p>\n

“After the eyes, lips represent the most expressive element of the face. And there\u2019s the fetish appeal, because lipstick can transform a face from intense to naive or even dangerous. When a woman carries a handbag, we look at her shoulders. When she slips on a pair of heels, we observe her walk. If she applies lacquer to her nails, we admire her hands. With its slow, circular application, lip makeup becomes a rich and sensual gesture.”<\/p>\n

Even the golden tube is a work of art \u2013 Louboutin was inspired by everything from Babylonian architecture to Middle Eastern antiquities to create a truly luxurious objet d’art.<\/p>\n

“This precious object will be coveted by others,\u201d Louboutin said of the tube. \u201cSuggesting a purse full of rare and precious stones that could have been discovered in Ali Baba’s cave, it will arouse lust and desire…and is made to be stolen.”<\/p>\n

At $90 a pop, Christian Louboutin Lip Colour will be available in September at Saks and us.christianlouboutin.com<\/strong><\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n
