J. Crew is set to launch a lower-priced line for savvy shoppers that want the quality look without the high-end price tag.<\/p>\n

Called J. Crew Mercantile, a source told The Wall Street Journal<\/em><\/a> that the new line will feature merchandise with prices similar to J. Crew Factory, the retailer\u2019s outlet stores.<\/p>\n

Even though J. Crew Factory has an\u00a0e-commerce shop, its brick-and-mortar stores tend to be located in outlet malls that are far away from most metropolitan areas.<\/p>\n

According to the article, J Crew Mercantile will be located in regional urban malls in the effort to reach out to budget-conscious shoppers. This way, the brand hopes to ditch the outlet mall stigma to avoid cannibalizing their main line’s sales.<\/p>\n

Sources say the company is already scouting retail locations and has signed a few leases.<\/p>\n
