I’ll be honest, when it comes to jumpsuits, I’m more than a little hesitant. It always brings back memories of the all-denim numbers from the 80’s. ‘Shudder.’<\/p>\n

But this morning, I was privy to a firsthand tour of the new fashion exhibition at the Phoenix Art Museum, “One for All, All for One: The Jumpsuit,” that will so totally change your mind about any apprehensions you may have had about jumpsuits too.<\/p>\n

After falling crazy in love with the yellow number above, I also got a look at designs by Yves Saint Laurent, Diane von Furstenberg and Norma Kamali among others. You’ll also see vintage jumpsuits like mechanic overalls from the 1920’s, the “Rosie the Riveter” uniform from WWII and even the original flight suit worn by Charles Lindberg.<\/p>\n

The 90-year exploration of the jumpsuit’s versatility throughout time features one-pieces from Phoenix Art Museum’s private collection as well as loaned garments from around the country. (Next week a Jean Paul Gaultier number will be in from his spring 2008 collection; it’s currently on loan to Beyonce for a photo shoot).<\/p>\n

Stop by tonight during First Friday for the opening celebration and don’t miss the Stella McCartney cream-color jumpsuit toward the end from her spring 2008 collection.<\/p>\n
