I don\u2019t know about you, but I am absolutely reveling in the beautiful weather we’ve had recently. With only a few days to go before the official start of spring, it is no question as to why I am getting the itch for a bit of a transition. Over the past couple of weeks we touched here and there on some spring trends to indulge in, but one that we haven\u2019t talked about yet is hair. <\/p>\n

Sunny and clear blue skies make me want to pick a flower and stick it in my hair. This is an age-old practice with a variety of meanings and traditions, but it is also one of the easiest ways to vamp up any hair look: braid, bun, pony, or just behind your ear when your locks are flowing free. <\/p>\n

You can go as big and bold or small and quaint as you would like. Not to mention that the color and varieties are seemingly endless. Blogs, fashion lovers, and trend followers are all asking the same question, \u201cAre braids still trendy?\u201d Considering that I still indulge in a braid 2 to 3 times a week, I am going to say yes, but don\u2019t just take my word for it, the runways are backing up my claim. The key to keeping the braid fresh and trendy is to make it different. Try something like this equestrian harness plait at Herve Leger or the simple and messy pony braid at Balmain. <\/p>\n

Accessories and new hairstyles are all good and great, but healthy, shiny hair makes them even better! Red Book Magazine<\/a> gives a little tip on how to get that beautiful silky hair:<\/p>\n

“Glossy hair reads as healthy hair,” says Hazan. If yours is dullish, apply a clear at-home glaze \u2014 which is packed with oils and proteins \u2014 monthly. (Try Fekkai Salon Glaze, $28.) Saturate wet, just-shampooed hair with it, leave for five minutes, then rinse and condition as usual. Or try Clairol Natural Instincts Shine Happy, $8.99; the treatment takes 15 minutes but gives you a rich polish for up to six weeks.<\/p>\n

I\u2019ll leave you with a little hair accessory DIY project from TBD<\/a>\u2026 I think I am going to make one tomorrow! <\/p>\n

1.\tGet a large roll of paper towels. Test a headband on it to make sure it fits. If not, remove some of the paper towels until they fit properly.
\n2.\tGet a fabric that coordinates well with your bedroom or bathroom. I went with a very thin taupe-y grey cotton voile fabric.
\n3.\tSpray paint a ruler (or something flat that can stablize your paper towel roll) with a complimentary or matching color. I used flat white.
\n4.\tPlug in your hot glue gun and get your scissors out!
\n5.\tCut a fabric square and leave an extra 6\u2033 on each side of the roll. Hot glue the edge of the fabric to the paper towel roll as seen above.
\n6.\tWrap it all the way around the paper towel roll, overlapping by an inch or two. Cut and glue that edge into place. I folded my edge under before I glued it to make it cleaner.
\n7.\tOnce that\u2019s secure, twist the excess fabric on the sides (like you would with a piece of candy) and tuck them into the paper towel roll hole.
\n8.\tPut hot glue on your ruler or piece of wood and secure it to the base of the headband holder to prevent it from rolling.<\/p>\n
