There is so much going on this week that as I sat to write this blog post I could hardly narrow it down to one topic. Yesterday we talked about the first looks of the award season, and I\u2019ve already done a news post for this week\u2026 But in just one or two days there are already new stories in the fashion world, and not to mention another red carpet, among other fashionable things I want to talk about. So I decided why not just write about it all today\u2014a fashion smorgasbord.<\/p>\n

Last night, Hollywood celebs gathered together once again for the Critics Choice Awards. I wish I could devote the entire post to this red carpet as these ladies were wearing dresses right off of the runway, and working them just as well as any model.<\/p>\n

My favorite designer Oscar de la Renta was a big winner last night as several of my favorite looks were thanks to him. Jennifer Lawrence looked sexy and elegant in her black ODLR gown while Anne Hathaway continues to show off her rocking body in a floor-length metallic ODLR dress.<\/p>\n

Okay, there really are too many so I\u2019ll cut the commentary (just know I love them all) and list the rest: Marion Cotillard in Zuhair Murad, Amanda Seyfried in Marios Schwab, Emily Blunt in Miu Miu, and Amy Adams in Vionnet.<\/p>\n

If you remember, last year was the year of the open letter, but wait, I think 2013 may have a few tricks up its sleeve. Lady Gaga has written the first open letter of the year. Her recipient? Kelly Osbourne. Lady Gaga specifically writes to Kelly in regards to Osbourne\u2019s comments to Fabulous Magazine in which she suggests that Lady Gaga fans are brutal about her weight and have even suggested that she kill herself.<\/p>\n

Though Lady Gaga\u2019s letter starts out compassionate and sympathetic enough it takes a turn about a third of the way through and becomes more of a \u201cyou do it too\u201d rant:<\/p>\n

\u201cYour show breeds negativity, and over the years has even become comedic in nature. It glorifies you and Joan Rivers pointing in the camera, laughing, and making jokes about artists and celebrities as if we are zoo animals. What about your body revolution? It used to make me truly sad when I would hear people talk about your weight when you were younger, as I was bullied too. To see you blossoming into a beautiful slender woman who makes fun of others for a living is astounding. Why not help others? You can read the full letter here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Downton Abbey has become a huge phenomenon over the past couple of years, and I am no exception to its draw. Yes, the peek into the lives of the privileged as well as the underprivileged, the love stories, and such are all wonderful, but there is no doubt that fashion or perhaps better stated costume plays a huge role (no pun intended) in its success.
