Happy Thanksgiving! Today I am excited and thankful to be fixing a feast and spending time with the family.<\/p>\n

I hope that you too will be sharing your day with those people that are special to you.<\/p>\n

I usually start the day early, prepping the Turkey and letting it come to room temperature for two hours just like Martha Stewart suggests before it’s stuffed and into the oven. From there I start working on the sides which inevitably take longer than expected no matter how much prep is done the night before. Even so, there’s always time for football watching and card or board games between the snacks and the entree’ . Makeup primers help to make you look more luminous and fill in those little imperfections, but their main purpose in life is to help your foundation, concealer, and powder \u201cstick\u201d better. Jenny Smith, Lead Makeup Stylist for NARS, told us, \u201cMakeup primer and eye primer are the first products you need to take out of your makeup bag to make the rest of your makeup go on smoothly and stay on!\u201d<\/p>\n

Smith also gave us a concealing tip to keep those imperfections out of sight the whole day: \u201cTouch on concealer as needed and seal the deal with loose powder\u2013a makeup artist\u2019s best kept secret for a long lasting finish.\u201d<\/p>\n

Blotting Tissues
\nEven if you\u2019re not cooking this year, you better be in the kitchen helping the host\/hostess carry dishes at the bare minimum. Between trips to the kitchen, and that super cozy sweater you decided to wear to your Grandma\u2019s house (which is already heated to 94 degrees), you may get a little, um, shiny. Blotting papers are one of the best inventions ever\u2013they\u2019ll get rid of that extra oil without disturbing your makeup.<\/p>\n

Eye Shadow Primers
\nWe already told you why you should use face primer\u2013and the same goes for eye shadow primers. There actually aren\u2019t many so-called \u201clong-wearing\u201d eye shadows, so primer is key to keeping shadow from disappearing (often a problem with powder formulations) or creasing.<\/p>\n

Long-Wearing Eye Makeup:
\nOnce you\u2019ve primed, you\u2019re ready for shadow, mascara, and\/or eye liner. If you\u2019re going to be in the kitchen cooking (and thus sweating and possibly also crying from cutting onions\u2013or fighting with your sister), waterproof mascara is a must, according to Maybelline New York Makeup Artist, Melissa Silver. (Try Maybelline\u2019s Lash Discovery Waterproof Mascara.) Silver also recommends applying cream eye shadow (see below) on lids and blending\u2013that\u2019s it!<\/p>\n

If you\u2019re an eye liner type of girl, many of them do come in long-wear formulas. MAC Senior Artist Neil Young recommends using a water resistant liner, coordinating shadow for a \u201csmoked out\u201d look, then topping with a waterproof mascara.<\/p>\n

\nThis is probably the trickiest product to make last, what with that third dessert you\u2019re going for (and second shot of tequila to blunt all your mom\u2019s nagging). \u201cFor lips that won\u2019t quit, start by defining the lip with [a lip pencil] in your chosen color and fill in the entire lip,\u201d MAC\u2019s Young advised us. \u201cThis will help to bind any additional products placed on top.\u201d Use your favorite lip color\u2013either a lipstick or gloss\u2013on top.<\/p>\n
