One of the pieces that I find myself collecting (besides shoes and handbags of course) is the cardigan. No matter the season or the weather I always have a cardigan on hand. It is the one layering piece that can truly save the day. For instance, you walk into a grocery store and it is freezing and instead of looking like a crazy person rubbing your arms up and down incessantly, you simply grab your cardigan out of your bag. Or my favorite is the winter-cold office in the winter\u2026 It maybe be 59 degrees outside, but the office must surely be kept at a comfortable 50 degrees\u2014you got it, grab your handy dandy cardigan. <\/p>\n

The lovelies at Who What Wear<\/a> had the same idea when they came up with some fancy ways to style your favorite cardigans in my favorite color\u2026 Navy Blue. So perfect for fall!<\/p>\n

The Inspiration
\nWe think Jessica Hart got it just right when she was photographed in New York last month wearing a chic cardigan-accented outfit. Hart’s classic navy J.Crew Collection Featherweight Cashmere Cardigan ($178) in Navy, casually unbuttoned over a vintage tailored oxford shirt and vintage accordion pleat midi, is a nod to that insouciant prep school style. Hart balances the look by accessorizing with industrial accents, such as chunky silver rings and bracelets.<\/p>\n

\nTo avoid extra bulk, layer your cardi over a tissue thin button-down. Elizabeth and James’ semi-sheer Amie Striped Cotton-Gauze Shirt ($245) does the trick!<\/p>\n

\nThough Hart styles her outfit with flat sandals, we think Frye’s Erin Oxfords ($168) in Grey are the perfect segue into fall footwear. Combined with a cardigan, the lace-up shoes elicit an enviable borrowed-from-the-boyfriend vibe.
