I’m not sure if you have noticed but lace dresses seem to be taking over store racks virtually everywhere. I first noticed the trend when a few fashion bloggers sported the uber feminine fabric on their outfit of the day posts, and then again when Kelly Ripa wore two different ones in the same week on her morning show, and now as I walk through my favorite boutiques and department stores. <\/p>\n

It may be a surprise to you that this has become such a hot trend, especially if you have something like this 1950s silhouette in mind.<\/p>\n

Or maybe even this 1920s frock.<\/p>\n

However you may be shocked at just how radically the lace dress has changed.<\/p>\n

Perhaps the greatest change the lace dress has come to see is the addition of bold colors. That’s right, lace doesn’t just come in black, white, and the occasional beige anymore. You can have just about any color you desire….and sometimes even two or three like this Nanette Lapore Varsity Two Tone lace dress. Lilac lace over bold orange makes for a surprisingly pleasant combination. Sorbet anyone?<\/p>\n

I think we can also agree that the silhouette has changed or at least the length–and drastically. Popular among twenty and thirty something’s, bloggers, and confident women is the lace mini. These dresses show just how feminine you are… Note that grandmothers and great grandmothers may not approve.<\/p>\n

Now, I know that lace gowns are not new to society, but I’m sure they haven’t always looked like this Monique Lhuillier nude and blue gown. It’s kind of awe inspiring don’t you think? Granted the price (which I’m sure is another major change in the lace dress department) may reserve this dress for a special occasion. I think it would make a beautiful and unique wedding dress!<\/p>\n

Say goodbye to the delicate floral patterns and hello to geometrical shapes: dots, squares, and triangles….and large eye-catching florals. <\/p>\n

I figured while we are on the topic of lace I would throw in a few of my favorite lace shorts, also a hot trend for the summer. <\/p>\n

\nAnthropologie’s Forest lace shorts are the perfect go-to shorts for the summer. Their flat fronts allow for a flattering fit, $128. <\/p>\n
